Everyone has a valid viewpoint. I called USCIS today just to politely ask why the processing times have not been updated since September 30. Of course the USCIS telephone reps don't have (or say they don't have) any more information than we do. In particular CSC right now seems ludicrously behind. I don't know (as someone else mentioned) if they do this to test the validity of the relationship. I kind of doubt it, as if that were the case, shouldn't people who have been waiting 7+ months and are still together help prove validity? I don't think they would accept "well look, we've been waiting so long, doesn't that prove it?"

Anyway, it seems like a flawed system, but from all things I've checked, they don't really answer to anyone, even U.S. senators. Though I have been thinking a final resort might be trying to get a news report from local or national show if someone can get them interested. You know a human interest story about all the political wrangling over illegal immigrants as opposed to those of who go the proper route and wait, wait, wait. Goes to show why people want to bypass the process altogether.

I, for one, just hope I can have my wife and step-daughter here by November, which would be our anniversary. Oh well, I'll abuse Skype until then, and keep saving for each trip to the Philippines.

Six months seems like forever in this process, but when you look back you will realise how quickly it goes, especially in the last couple of weeks. Don't set yourself up for regrets when you get here, it's so much harder than you realise. It's great to finally be with your soulmate, but the drawback is that in your excitement to get here, you overlook what you are giving up.

Wishing you an uneventful process that passes as quickly as it can. :)

thanks for those words and not trying to bash you but do you have regrets just asking based oon what you said

Yes, I have regrets. I lost my mother shortly before we married, and I lost my father 18 months afterwards. Life is a lot more fragile than we realise and once the people we love are gone, we can't make more memories with them. If I'd known time was so limited, I would certainly have made more of the time I had before I moved to the US, instead of being in a hurry to get here. :)

So, grab a hot chocolate, lace it with peppermint schnapps, and settle down for a wait. Use this time to gather additional documentation of relationship, save up money for medical, travel, shipping of personal household goods, and filing AOS. Use this time to save money for the wedding. But please do NOT use this time to selfishly insult those of us who have been waiting more than 6 months as if it were some how OUR fault for the delays!

I lace my coffee with Bailey's ... will that suffice?

If USCIS were the only agency involved, it would be easier to keep track of, and they would probably be a lot better at updating the status and removing all this angst and hand-wringing.

Unfortunately, they are required to interract with many other departments in order to verify that you aren't someone that America doesn't wish to admit, and that you have been truthful on your application. So, basically, it isn't just the staffing level at USCIS ... it's about the staffing level of the FBI, CIA, Interpol, IRS and various others and any backlog they happen to have, or difficulties they encounter retrieving information. That's just within the US. When they have to wait on verification from foreign agencies .. well, do I really need to spell out how that works?

Quite frankly, for the amount of activity our application files see, I'm amazed that we get off with only paying around $5k total for the whole process. How much more would you be prepared to pay in order to speed your application up? 10, 000? 20? Most of us prefer to wait rather than double, or triple, the costs involved in this already expensive process.

Your time would be better spent enjoying the company of family and friends, and scenery of a country you're going to be leaving behind, rather than panicking about how unfair it is to make you wait. Trust me, there will be a lot of things you'll miss from home once you arrive, so don't squander the time you have by worrying about how long it will be before you can give it all up. Make sure everyone has some kind of video conferencing and knows how to use it, visit everyone, go through your personal items and decide if you want gift some as mementos to your loved ones. Make memories to bring with you. It's often the little things that mean the most when you're here without them.

hi, just thought I'd share my case and if you can give some insight that would be great. We submitted our case for adjustment for status along with work authorization, last september and got a first rejection requiring more documentation. we sent it again at the end of october, in december I received a notification that they moved my case to California Service Center, shortly after that I got my work authorization, I haven't heard anything since then.

I want to go back home the first week of April. Does anyone know if it will make it on time?. The website says 4 months but I don't know if it counts since they moved to california or since they got it for the second time.

thank you

I don't really understand what the OP is complaining about. It's like walking into a bank and seeing a long line. You're at the back of that line right? Would you really expect to be dealt with before all of those other people, you know, the ones that have already been standing in line for 20 minutes? It just makes no sense to me. You got in line and others are ahead of you...that's life.
