Buy the cheapest ticket; you can space the dates out many months and use the return ticket to maybe actually return and visit family.

That's a great idea. My husband is from Lebanon and the cost of the plane ticket (one-way) is $1,200. That's almost what I pay round trip when I visit him in Lebanon. I thought that if he had a RT ticket that it could cause problems...such as returning back to Lebanon shortly after arrival. He wouldn't do that...after all, we just want to be together.

I'm in the process of purchasing my fiancee's one-way ticket from Cairo to New York. It is not a secret that buying a one-way ticket raises security concerns. I'd like feedback on your experiences with this issue. Have you or your loved ones been grilled with questions by the ticket agent or security? Do they post something in your profile? What have been the main issues?

Or are we being paranoid?

I appreciate your prompt responses.

Have a great day!

2 way tickets when i looked are actually cheaper sometimes ...can you believe that?

It shouldn't be a issue, because when my mom received her immigrant Visa, at the time to buy the air ticket, if you buy by an agency they ask you to show your visa in your passport to sell you the ticket. K1 Visa is not an immigrant visa, but of course he can adjust his status once married in USA. The price was something as $ 600, and the round trip was $800.

May I ask what website you used to purchase the airline ticket?

I did the return vs one-way comparison. I believe I got an incredibly awesome deal. The catch is the the flight leaves at 3:40 am. To us, that's ok; he'll sleep in the airplane.

I had to pay for my own ticket :crying:

My wife say travel cheap, you are not going for the food or hospitality, just to US, I guess he has a point this is not a vacation and the whole USCIS experience is pretty expensive. Congratulations.l

When I came to the US on my CR-1 visa I bought a return ticket because it was almost half the cost of a one way. I arrived in Feb and booked the return for July when I might actually be returning for a visit. I ended up not using the return ticket but still saved a lot of money. If you are entering on a visa which is meant to allow you to stay in the US permanently then whether you have a return or one way ticket is irrelevant. Just pick the cheapest option.

Thank you. Unfortunately, they don't support flights originating out of Beirut. But I can book a RT flight from the US to Beirut. Crazy....I don't get it. The cost of my husband's one way ticket to the US is $1200. But it's worth every penny.

On a K-1, the assumption is that it is a one-way trip.

I purchased a one-way Warsaw-London-Houston (it was $220  ) for my fiancee and had no problems. The advice here is always to purchase whichever is cheaper. On a round trip, you want to cancel the return portion at some point after her arrival.

I actually used the return leg of a ticket I had bought in the US.

I try and get home once a year.
