For example, supermarkets want you to become a club member. Want the club member price? Give us your information. We want to know who you are, where you live, and what you buy, and we do, because every time our cashier's slide your club card, we know.

Buying something at Lowe's or Home Depot?

Why the #### would I give somebody my phone number?

I often respond to somebody asking me for my phone number: "what's your bra size?"

Final example: I ordered over the Internet a muscle relaxant, prescription stuff. Works wonders when my back is out, which happens twice or three times a year. In order to get it, I had to provide my address and phone number. Since I do not have a house phone anymore, I gave 'em my cell number. For about 3 years now I get phone calls from Canada, Utah, God knows where, from people who want to sell me prescription medicine.

"Hello, Sir, how are you today?"

"I'm fine. What can I do for you?"

"This is your pharmacy. I am callin' you for your medicine?"

"What medicine?"

"Well Sir, you are taking Flexeril, 20mg . . . "

"Please do not call me again."

I have, I swear by the grave of my mother, received about 200 such calls in the past 3 years. There's nothing I can do to stop this. I can't block the numbers. I was nice, mean, yelled, screamed, nice again, nothing helps.

As far as I'm concerned, both the left & the right are both pretty good at taking our privacy away from us. Does anyone remember the USA PATRIOT Act? That was signed into law by G.W. Bush. Obama just signed a 4-year extension of the Act's key provisions (i.e. wire tapping, being able to search your library records - YES, your library records, etc.) The original PATRIOT Act passed in both the house & senate with an overwhelming majority of both Republicans and Democrats.

For something a little more fresh in our minds... how about the National Defense Authorization Act?

I'm just saying guys, the video is kinda creepy and a bit of a stretch IMHO. I think saying "this is what the libs want" is naive at best. Our civil liberties are being taken away from us, not by liberals, not by conservatives, but by congress in general.
