knowingly coming to the US illegally is more than just a simple mistake... it is a choice.

that's all i've got to say

I agree.

Nothing personal to the people going through this; I do feel for you but unfortunately some actions do have harsh and severe consequences and this is one of them. :(

You're right...and I'm glad to know that so many individuals think they make only good choices in life. I, for one, could never be so wrong as to present myself as having made only good choices, particularly in my younger years. Maybe I should rephrase that: would that some members here be punished so dearly for their bad choices in life. To me, it says the same thing.

But isn't that exactly what mistakes are, bad choices?

I am ashamed...completely ashamed at reading this thread. I thought we were different here. Send them back, and let them NEVER come back? Thanks a whole hell of a lot. I'm not going to get into the nuances and details like Charity did, but suffice it to say that I deal with hardships of every type every single day of my life. My life will never be anywhere close to normal because of my husband's dumb mistake. Would that some of you had to pay so dearly for mistakes YOU made in your life-it's a very humbling experience. Also suffice it to say that there are some very hurt feelings right now, and I hope you all are happy.

No one is trying to hurt your feelings.

This board is about LEGAL immigration. Obviously we won't look fondly on people who come to the US illegally then get to stay with no problems, when we are all going through the proper channels to get our SOs here, LEGALLY.

Who said ANYTHING about getting to stay? I didn't. Javier's in the middle of a 5-year stay outside the country. I would say we have paid for that choice/mistake.

I was referring to the fact you said we were hurting you by saying we don't want illegals to stay in America (going back to the OP's question).

I'm sorry you're going through this, but some mistakes have big consequences and illegal immigration is one of them.

You know what, forget this ######. I'm done trying to play nice. To all of you who say they should leave and never come back, I hope sincerely in my heart and soul that each of you one day will feel the pain of dealing with consequences of bad choices YOU make in your life. And I hope those consequences are severe, so severe, that you feel it's unfair. That's all I have to say. Adios pendejos y chinguen a sus madres.

I don't think anyone has said that. I'm sure most if not all people here have done things that they regret now.

The thing is...it's not as if it's a secret that illegally immigrating to the US can have dire and severe consequences. Yet people make the choice to do it every day and risk suffering those consequences. These people are just voicing their opinions; they're not making it about you. Please don't take it personally.

While it's true that teenagers can make pretty bad choices, it wouldn't be right to operate in a consequence-free environment...particularly when it comes to obeying the law. It isn't fair to the rest of society to not have consequences for people who break the law.

I am truly sorry for what you're going through. I hope you believe me.

You know, there are other people here who can understand Spanish. I don't think anyone here deserved that.

Homesick american, thank you for your sentiments.

As for anyone who wants to report me for my last statements, no need. I have personally PMed the Captain requesting that this account be disabled and I will not be posting here anymore.

I don't remember seeing anyone else here saying they've only made good choices.

Again I think you are reading things that aren't there. I don't remember seeing anyone say they should never come back. I certainly didn't say that, I just said that they shouldn't be allowed immigration, and by that I mean a chance at citizenship. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt on this, but somehow I think you should have known that people here would have harsh feelings towards illegal immigrants, especially when many of us are having such a rough time doing it legally.
