Shannon, it's ridiculous and inaccurate to state that this is how "an abortion" is done. The example you site is one of the rarest and most extreme versions of terminating a pregnancey and is hardly the norm.

I'm an RN, and I've always been pro-life. It's just my personal opinion, and I realize that. I'm not a fanatic about it - just have a personal opinion about it. I've heard the heartbeats, and I just can't bring myself to say it's ok to stop that. There's no way to give my opinion on this and not seem judgemental. I just feel like if you make the choice to have sex, you need to take responsibility for your actions. True, some don't get a choice (instances of rape or molestation). I'll be honest though, I really don't know what the answer is to that and how God would want me to handle that if it ever happened to me. Excluding those scenerios, though I feel it's noone's right to take away a life especially just for convenience sake.

Obviously, female and extremely pro-choice, and pro-choice activist.

Not sure I'd have an abortion, but know for sure that it would be extremely arrogant for me to try to make that decision for someone else. Not to mention self-righteous. Much respect to people against abortion BUT who feel it's not their legal right to decide for others since nobody has any information to make that decision on other than their um, feelings.

Shannon, I've seen your posts all day and I'm getting sick of them.

Also agree that this issue is ridiculous to discuss in the political arena because

a) everyone's got their mind made up already

b)it distracts people from noticing whether their party promotes economic policies they approve of (yknow, stuff politicans actually CAN affect) and some people are even silly enough to VOTE on these issues

c) it gets people talking to each other about these issues instead of poverty, disease, taxes, etc.

male, pro choice. I do believe abortion sucks, but it is not my right to make someone have or not have an abortion. abortion as birth control is wrong though, but that is between the person and whatever higher power they believe in.

I'm a woman and pro choice. My husband believes it's a woman's choice - pro life and pro choice (which is sorta where i stand). It should be a decision between the person (parties involved and possibly the religion they believe it). I find it ignorant to want to impose one's views on someone else. Issues such as this are individualistic, and thus should be the decision of the individual. I often wonder who started the idea that we live in an homogeneous society - because we just don't.

I don't think I would have an abortion, but I am pro-choice. Also, for me to consider the fetus a baby and give it its own rights, it would have to be viable outside the womb on its own, and for several months, it just isn't. (I am aware many people do not agree with this - just my opinion)

For the record, I object to the term "pro-life". It should be anti-abortion. The rest of us are not "anti-life". Many of the active anti-abortion groups are also anti-birth control. I think if you are truly moved to stop something from happening, you should look to the reasons people get it done in the first place. Unwanted pregnancies due to lack of birth control, sex ed, poverty? Whatever. That is how things change.
