Well, I'm going to Vietnam this Friday. 5 weeks paid vacation in Sunny Vietnam. :D So ready for some rest and relaxation.

MY wife and daughter have been there since July 3rd. Her grandmother got sick (Ba Noi). Ba Noi new she was coming. They were very close. She got to see and talk to her on the morning of the 4th of July. She passed away that afternoon. So I told her to stay there and help her family with the funeral. Now that all of that is finished she been helping her mom and dad with the fanily restaraunt,

We chat 2 times every day, but it's been tough being away from them for this long.

Since there are no holidays during this trip, it's time to go some other places I haven't seen yet.

  1. Nha Trang
  2. Dalat
  3. Vung Tau

I totally agree. Dalat is like California year round. It has some of the most beautiful natural landscape I have ever seen!

And the ride from the airport to the hotel was breath taking. And if you rent a motorbike and ride the roads, it is something to remember.

This is where my "timeshare" will be when I retire.

Since now she's got her perm 10-year GC, she might no longer be that concerned about "proving" her genuine relationship with you to the USCIS by showing proof that she's still having physical contacts with you. However, she still can't stay outta country for longer than 1 year unless she possesses a valid Re-Entry permit PRIOR to her departure.

Actually, you need to be careful with this.

The USCIS - says 1 year.

Customs and Border Protection - They use a rule o thumb at 6 months. After 6 months they can AT WILL consider residency abandoned, confiscate the greencard, and send the greencard holder back to their home country.

I recommend, if your better half is going to be away for 6 months or more, GET A RE-ENTRY PERMIT BEFORE THEY LEAVE THE US.

I called the Customs and Border Patrol at both CHICAGO O'HARE and J.F.K.

Both told me the same thing. After 6 months, it's THEIR CALL.

Dalat is a wonderful place to take your significant other. I went to two waterfalls and several flower gardens with my fiance and took some lovely pictures. Another place to visit not too far from Dalat is Phan Thiet, which is on the South China Sea.

What? Why is the thread ban?

DQ has his narrow view points but it forces us to look at all angles.

from the tos:

Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Forums.

I must not have seen the same Dalat that others talk about. I found it to be super boring.

Vung Tau is a short trip from HCMC. Take the river route at least one leg of the trip. Not the luxuriousness of Nha Trang area. But quick and easy.
