I am sorry, but I am soooo confused already...and I am just beginning this journey!!!! please bear with me and my confusion, because the more I research (which is constantly) the MORE confused I am.... So I am the USC and am marrying my fiance when I go to his country (Guatemala) in Novemeber.... so I know a lawyer would be my best option (but we dont have the money because it is costing for me to go there and save for the Visas,, etc etc)... So Lawyers aside, what is the main difference between this K3 and Cr-1 .... that is what I am confused on, what to go for for him???

CR-1 is an immigrant visa; an individual who enters on a CR-1 visa will be given a green card on arrival in the form of an I-551 stamp. The actual card will arrive a short time later.

K3 is a non-immigrant visa, adjustment of status would be required in order to obtain a green card.

Additionally, to file for a K3, the I-130 would have to be filed first, followed by a I-129F. The I-130 would be pulled from its current place in the queue and placed with the I-129F that was just submitted. The two petitions would be approved at the same time and sent to the NVC. If the two petitions arrive at the NVC at the same time or if the I-130 arrives at the NVC before the I-129F, the I-129F for K3 will be administratively closed leaving only the I-130 for CR-1 active. If the I-129F arrives at the NVC first, then the K3 would be processed.

April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

As i already told you in your other post. The CR-1 is cheaper and gets a green card on entry to the USA the K-3 does not and is more expensive.

Thanks...I get that the info is there for a reason, but as I stated....I am confused. I have read.... But what I do not get IS this: WHY go for a K3 if a CR-1 is cheaper, the same time and gives a green card???? Why would ANYONE go for the K3 then???? that is all I am trying to figure out!

As I said and another person said in your other post on this. K-3 USED to be the one you would use because long ago the CR-1 was taking too long. The K-3 was made to make things go faster. This is NOT the case anymore. The K-3 is obsolete because the CR-1 is now the more preferable method to get a spouse to the USA and able to work on entry.
