time to apply for US citizenship

It will be time to apply for US citizenship after October 11th, but with the cost of applying, we are finding it difficult to come up with the money right now. Does it matter if we wait another month or two? Please someone let me know. Thanks a lot.

There is no rush to file your citizenship. It's a choice & not mandatory. Do it at your own convenience & when u can afford it without sacrificing your monthly bills.

I think as long as your green card isn't expired.. You should be fine... don't wait too long, i heard the cost goes up every year or two?

no rush, you can take years if you want to.some people only have green cards ,and never want to become a citizen.

There is no requirement to become a USC. File or don't file... up to you. The window just opens Oct 11th. It doesn't close like ROC does. The only time it WOULD close is if you're applying based on the 3 year rule and you divorce before he applies for USC so he'll need to wait for the 5 year window. Or of course he commits crimes between now and then.

Reasons? For my wife, we applied at the earliest possible date because we were getting a bit run around from the USCIS in the I-751 processing. US citizenship is an answer to finally cut relationships with them. And she had both her employer and the DMV on her back. Voting is key, she got to vote in a local election where about 95% of the candidates ran unopposed, then in a primary where the two candidates where already elected before they came to our state. She still has to maintain her foreign passport because her place of birth is on it.

Stepdaughter played around, more interested in boys and rock concerts, over a year went by. But suddenly she got a chance to study in England and needed US citizenship because of visa problems with her home country, a mad rush to get it done. Another good reason is with a green card, have to be concerned about residency requirements. You may run into this is if you can't find a decent job here. One my sons and a niece are working abroad for that reason

For me, a relief, promised I would handle the legal stuff for them, no more record keeping and that I-864 I was forced to sign to bring them here finally expired. Also that AR-11 reminder came off the refrigerator door.

Just saying, do you have reasons for applying for US citizenship? If nothing pressing, can wait, another is you can use your bathroom without taking your green card with you, you must carry it where and whenever you go. And always the fear of losing it to get robbed blind by the USCIS for a replacement. They get you one way or the other.
