Would you recommend sending western union receipts for the interview in Lagos ? Has anyone done this? I just want to know if its a good proof of ongoing relationship or if it will be used against me?

Our Nigeria members can provide the most meaningful specific response. In general, however, it's probably best in most interview situations to have the beneficiary carry the receipts to the interview, but not mention or present them unless asked about them.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

What in the case of a Peruvian beneficiary, does this apply for all the countries? or just for the MENA countries?

Thank u

In another thread, this was addressed. I thought if sending one or two hundred every few months would look good. Meaning, it would show I already think of fiance as family? However, it was pointed out it could look like you are "paying for a wife" Maybe not with small amounts, but I am only going to include a few at this time. For example, my fiance has a medical concern, so I am sending her $350 so she does not have to work until surgery. I will pay more after surgery as well. I am not going to include these in out "packet". Hope this helps....todd

My interview is soon... Sept 2 at USEM, I gathered all evidence of our ongoing relationship. my fiance and I have a 5-month-old daughter.. He sends in money regularly thru western union and I am planning to present this at the interview... Is that a bad idea? I don't think they would get the impression I am being paid right?....

This is a Good Idea to include. There is a Child Involved and shows Support for both of you.. Save those payment reciepts and volunteer them if asked.

if you are relying on receipts from WU or MoneyG to convince the CO of your relationship, then you have bigger issues...

what do you mean? thats PART of our proof. lets be serious only an idiot could partially support an unknown person. we know eachother for 6 years. we have pictures, plane tickets, passport stamps, boarding passes, messenger/skype logs, and letters from our families that describes our relationship. what issues? jesus...and i bet the person who posted this doesnt rely on that either

Best wishes DeeDee for the Interview. Ignore negative posts and go with your heart. Makes no sense to me why someone would stay on this Forum if they had their Finacee/Wife here and hang around to collect Hearts to show authority. Now thats BORING. So, what color is your hair going to be. Pink, Blonde or brunette. I know your a brunette in real life. GOOD LUCK AT THAT INTERVIEW. Tim/Mav.

Of course, I'll be sending my Xoom receipts (well, they are printouts). I don't see this as "buying a wife"... her relationship with me and the visa process is resulting in additional expenses for her that she otherwise wouldn't be paying for... like a good Internet service so that she can chat with me every day, and the expenses of running around to different cities to get documents she needs. When we finally get the NOA2, I'll have to send much large amounts of money too since those fees are large, as well as the expense of traveling to Manila and staying in hotel. No "buying" is going on here. Geeez.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your input on this topic! Payxibca....Maybe I was not clear in my question, but I have a binder full of all kinds of evidence of proof of an ongoing relationship....I was just asking specifically of the western union receipts and if they would be good to include or not. Of course I know I can't just use WU receipts as sole evidence.
