I would like to know if the consulates or USCIS consider to have met online as a negative point, and if so in what countries does it make it more difficult the process, Thank u!

The short answer is no. You have to consider just how many people meet via the internet.

So long as you meet the requirements and there is nothing blatantly fraudulent about your case, it's largely a moot issue. They're not there to judge you, just to process the petition according to regulation.

17-Jan-10 - Filed K-1

26-Apr-10 - Approved

06-May-10 - Entered POE

24-May-10 - Married

22-Jul-10 - Filed AOS

24-Sep-10 - Biometrics Appointment

18-Nov-10 - Approved

29-Nov-10 - Received Green Card

The majority of us have met our spouses online. As long as you are sure about your marriage and sponsorship and its real, I dont care what anyone thinks. If you can prove that then you will be fine. Everyone is nervous I know but we are growing more confidence everyday even through the anticipation because we know we are real. We know this is serious. Im a huge patriot and I need my husband to share my life with me. Whether its here or there. Its just that there are more opportunities here, that's why everyone wants to come. Im not sure about which countries are the toughest to get in but I would think the terrorist ones would be. Good luck to you! :D

Not at all. The number of online couples & resulting marriages is increasing every year. More people meet online nowadays than in bars and clubs combined. It won't be long before meeting online accounts for more than half of all relationships in the US and beyond that, it will be silly to think people could meet any other way.

no, it will have zero effect on you application.

That seems to be to be the first question out of everyones mouth when they find out I'm going through this process "Oh! Did you meet online?" When I tell them no it seems to throw them off for a few seconds.. It seems to be almost expected now :)

There is a thread here "How did you meet" or something similar and many said it was on the inernet - it is more "how" you met online.. through an online game? A dating or introduction site? an "accidental" meeting through facebook or other social site?

Having met on-line won't affect the approval status of one's I-129F petition, as long as the other criteria are met. However, consulates can place surprising emphasis on evidence of letters and cards sent back and forth by POSTAL mail, so it would be prudent to plan to have at least a couple of such items available for the interview.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We met on the internet and my guy is from a MENA country, so I have to say I think not. Internet dating has become more and more common over the last ten years. Many people go through online matrimonial sites even and apply for visas to bring their fiance or spouse here. Dont worry, you're fine :thumbs:

01-02-2011: NOA1 received via SMS & E-Mail

01-06-2011: NOA1 hardcopy received via USPS[/color]

4-18-11: Received by NVC

4-20-11: Left NVC

4-24-11: Received by the consulate in Abu Dhabi

4-27-11:Received both packet 3 & 4 via e-mail from Abu Dhabi

7-25-11:Interview date-Administrative Processing

8-3-11:Administrative Processing ended - APPROVED!!!!!! :D

8-25-11:POE-SFO

9-10-11:Married!!!

9-26-11:Sent AOS Packet

10-6-11:Received NOA1s via text and E-mail

Yes, the results of one that I looked at on VJ recently reflected a total of just over 50% being online meetings which were made up of game, dating or other social sites.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number
Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere,and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .
I-129F Sent : Jul 28 2014
TSC received: Aug 04 2014
