My take is that either the prosecutions' case was very very weak, or they were incompetent. Seven women and five men unanimously found her not guilty. All the prosecution had to do was convince any one of the jurors that she was guilty and you would have a hung jury/mistrial. If that happened, the case would be tried again by a different jury. However, the prosecution could not even convince ONE juror to vote guilty.

To me, that speaks volumes.

Unfortunately this was a "textbook" case where the burden of proof was on the DA.

The level of decomposition of the body precluded any definitive cause of death assessment.

The best lawyer in my organization told me when I was discussing my divorce,

"You don't go to court for justice, you go to court for the law."

With 20-20 hindsight, it would have been sweet justice if the burden of proof

would have shifted to the accused in a case in which she completely

perjured herself. This is not the law so unfortunately she went free.

The defense was able to separate the issues of perjury and guilt so there you have it.

I have to agree that one is and should always be innocent until proven guilty. This lady was tried and convicted in the media. The media made what slim evidence there into she was guilty without any doubt. No evidence was ever presented that incriminated her. The prosecutors knew they had slim evidence and went out of their way to tug at the jurors heart strings and even failed that.

Many innocent people have been and still are convicted with no evidence just because jurors expect the one they are trying to be guilty or why are they there? Too often district attorneys are under huge pressure to get convictions and not justice. Well the prosecutors tried to get a conviction in this case and failed. They even stupidly went for the death penalty. That penalty made the jurors look extra hard at that slim evidence and couldn't see putting someone to death over it.

(only casey to blame for that, for all the LIES!!!) i know in my heart she was murdered and the ONLY person she was with was HER mother. she is a pathological liar and a very sick person. a mother will not go partying 31 days without knowing where your child is. i don't even think i can go on a day knowing my child is nowhere to be found - is she scared, hungry, in pain, cold, thirsty, crying for momma? you be the judge. not enough evidence, i agree, but she will stand before GOD someday.

She never "forgot", Amby. She came up with multiple lies in order to get people off her back during the time when her daughter was "missing". Each version was different, depending upon the person she was speaking with, and the day. She knew very well where her daughter was.
