I have three options for POE for my husband, Houston, Miami, Atlanta. Please share experiences for or against. Thanks.

Read everything posted about these three POE's and you will see the trends--i have been impressed by Houston, but to be fair, I haven't been in Miami or Atlanta for a very long time

Ive been to all three many times. Miami is crazy. It's efficient but every time I've gone through there it is very crowded and may be confusing to some. Atlanta was easy and less hectic and Houston was the same. Good luck!

I rated Atlanta tops, as this is the one (among the specified three) with which I have actually had experience (once from Gatwick, other time from Brussels).

Atlanta is good (Coming from England), Miami is OMG busy (Coming from Jamaica) never flown to Houston for POE.

I've only been through Houston. The CBP agents can range from perfunctory to bastards (even to USCs). They didn't give the wife-to-be any trouble when she entered with the K-1, but upon return from our last trip, they grilled and fingerprinted her again (in my presence!) even though she had her green card.

I came in through atlanta on an IR 1 visa and I had my daughter who has an IR 2 visa with me.Our experience was cool,there was no hassle just the normal documentation,no questions asked.The only but I noticed was the pace of the process.It was quite slow,there was only 1 officer on duty at the time.

hi ashley will you be going with him? ive been through Miami and Atlanta lots of times cant say if the he will be treated bad at the immigration part. for Miami it is very busy and is under construction you really have know how to get around because it goes every which way the planes are normally on time no delays you need at least 5 hours for a layover to be safe because you have to check you bags again and go through security again customs is normally fast ive gotten through in 10 minutes for miami american airlines is the plane. for Atlanta delta will be your plane they are normally cost more than AA Atlanta has the most air traffic in the world ive had a delay almost every time going to Atlanta and planes coming from there getting around is the airport is better customs is little slower than Miami i would say for layover 6 to 7 hours to be safe lots of restaurants to eat at in both hope this helps

Those are the 3 options available to the OP, they are not the ONLY options for POE

Out of the three I would pick ATL just based on what I have seen and heard.

Wel from Australia you have to fly in to LA and that was great and then I connected through to Atlanta as I live in Augusta and it was fine too. Nice big airport but have no idea what it is like for POE.

I highly recommend against Miami, like many have said, unless there are other factors. I have been through Miami and Atlanta, flying internationally, many times, and Miami can be quite confusing. Last time I went through Miami, I had to walk about 45 from embarking the plane to immigration. In general, I have found the staff to not be as pleasant (probably because Miami is busier as far as international traffic) and I greatly dislike that after customs, you usually have to leave the airport and reenter through the domestic terminal.

The longest wait that I have had at Atlanta has be one hour to get through everything (usually it is 30 minutes-1 hour), although for some reason when my wife went through coming in on her CR1, she was finished with everything in 20 minutes (this is not normal); I have had two+ hour waits at Miami, if you count walking to immigration. I also like how Atlanta's airport is set up, with the train. I have never used Houston as a POE, so I cannot comment. Basically, I would choose Atlanta or Houston, with the decision coming down to the airport that provides the shortest flight time and best cost.

With that being said, I have chosen Miami a few times. One advantage is that it will be much easier to find a Spanish speaker if your husband does not speak English fluently, both when he is going through immigration and if he needs help finding his connecting flight (my wife was not given a Spanish translator when they interviewed her, although I am sure one eventually would have been provided-this actually caused us some issues later on because she did not understand everything that was said, but that is a different story). Also, if Miami saves quite a bit of money, I would consider it. If you are connecting, though, I have found that American Airlines through Miami is usually more expensive than Delta through Atlanta (although this is not always true).

Take a few minutes and read all the posts in the POE section for Houston and Atlanta for the last couple of years--no sense going back farther than that, and it will tell you what to do. Nothing like actually being there.

And don't be shy about asking the folks who wrote the reviews to expand on what they said--there is even a Nica in the Houston group if you want to dig a little deeper about their experience since they went thru pretty much what you are going thru.
