What airport should I fly into?

Finally got my visa, there were issues with my health which had to be ironed out before I was issued one.

Anyway, fiancée lives in southern Florida, but someone gave me the advice that it is best to fly into Newark as they can issue a temporary work permit for 90 days until you get get married and apply for residence status, whereas Miami cannot. Does anyone know if this is true? Is it best to fly into Newark for this purpose?

K-1 visa is not given work permits at POE. If you are you cannot use them to work.

If you want to work right away you have to apply for an EAD. You can apply for one before AOS but you will spend quite a lot of extra money for something that expires the same day as your I-94. IF you apply for AOS EAD and AP all at the same time after marriage the EAD wont expire at the same time as the I-94 and it is free.

ANY work permit issued at the POE is as useless as the ink it is stamped with. You cannot use it to work as it is not one of the work authorized documents on the I-9 you need to produce to work. Sorry.

Also, it was JFK which once issued 90-day work-permits, not EWR (Newark).

For OP, best to go to whichsoever is closest (to your final destination) of Fort Lauderdale (FLL) or Miami (MIA)--they're both international.

Only JFK issue them and there has been notice that they might stop issuing them because they appeared to be useless, and no employer in the US will hire you with a work permit of 90 days validity on it.

FYI, if you're flying from Dublin or Shannon (which I'm guessing will be your airports-of-choice) you will already have cleared immigration (but not customs) prior to boarding.

Possibly... not all airlines use the pre-clearance facilities in Dublin or Shannon and Dublin is not a 24 hr facility, so any flight departing Dublin after a certain time (currently 16:00) are not able to use the facility
