But what do you do to get your mind off of her? I am struggling to enjoy life normally...in limbo, just going through the motions, waiting for happy life to resume. Who would've known that after a few chats on facebook poker we'd be married 2.5 yrs later. If I only knew then what I know now...crazy what we do for "those 3 words"

You would think 3500 miles away we would never have a reason to argue...wrong!

The distance & immigration process is wearing us down that we pick on each other!

lol...how do you all get through it?? (for those who have been there)

Have you ever given thought to re-evaluating your conclusion?

From your initial statement you are blaming the process for the

stress that both of you are under. What I see here (may be) two

type "A" personalities whose strong suit may not be patience.

I couldn't help noticing the "expedite" in your profile.

It may be OK to have such strong personalities in a marriage,

as long as each of you has the capacity to forgive the other,

because when you are yoked together in matrimony, you

have to take decisions together and some decisions taken

unilaterally won't always go over well.

Once the visa and emigration process is complete, you

may have nothing to blame except each other when things

go awry. Having differences & arguments are part of life,

but it's the way you handle them that makes the difference.

My first wife pretended to be submissive during courtship,

but when we got married there was NOTHING I could do right

and anything which gave her the slightest displeasure resulted

in "death by hanging" for me.

My current wife is also a strong personality, but while she

sometimes gets mad, she doesn't stay mad for long and

never makes me feel like ####### when she is criticizing me.

Sometimes I'll give her a piece of my mind but she knows

that my intentions are good.

My first wife blamed everyone around her, that was her

way of dealing with being a basically insecure person.

She would blame everyone in her family (even if they were

in Japan and the history between them had been very very old).

The problem was, when I became family she blamed everything on ME.

Before I married my current wife I made many trips to Thailand and

I saw all her relatives, friends and even enemies. At least the enemies

respected her but the family and friends all loved her and respected her.

I could see that the way she treated them was how she would treat me.

I only saw my first wife's family AFTER we married and although she

continued to blame them for everything, I could see clearly that it

was not their fault but hers most of the time.

The visa process demands a lot of teamwork and that is a good test

of how the both of you will interact when you're finally married. You

can't blame the visa process for picking on each other, you have to

look in the mirror.
