Hi Everyone!

I've missed you all, life has just been so busy that I haven't been signing on! We are married, as I think I mentioned before, and I just got my social security number in the mail yesterday. Today we are working on gathering all our paperwork for AOS to send it in in the next few days. Very exciting!

Now to read backwards to catch up with all of you!

Thank you for letting us know you did not go to a CS. My wife didn't either :)

For my wife's AOS, we sent her DS-3025 along with copies of pages from her yellow vaccination record booklet issued by the Chinese medical facility where she had her shots in China.

Her DS-3025 had check marks on both "Vaccination History Incomplete" and "Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as Indicated Above)."

She had her biometrics late October and got an email saying her I-485 "was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office". We also got a letter confirming her I-485 was transferred to CSC.

We are hoping to receive her EAD/AP card at the end of November :)

I'm glad to see so many of you are on your way to those fabled green cards! It almost feels like no time at all that around this time last year we had just filed for our K1 Visas. I am still waiting for my POE date of November 21st. Then it'####### the ground and start running. Glad to see most of you are doing well and getting married and working through this process.

Just had biometrics appointment this morning in Salt Lake City.

For anyone yet to reach this point it is:

Complete form with contact details, height, weight, ethnicity, country of nationality

Fingerprints:

All four fingers left hand

Left thumb

All four fingers right hand

Right thumb

Each digit individually, rolled so that the entire print is taken from one side to the other

Photograph (this will be for green card and EAD)

The guy said that the contact details is only in case something goes wrong - when the electronic system first went in, information on 1,000 people was sent to the FBI whose server then threw a fit and lost the information, so they had to start over.

My AOS is at Initial Review stage at the California Service Center as at 11/08/2011 - EAD is still only showing as received in Chicago on 10/19/2011

Lise,

Very glad to hear about your biometrics appointment!! :)

My wife had her biometrics 2 weeks ago and we're trying hard to sit tight and wait for the next USCIS letter :D

Thanks Bobby,

Yes it seems that I should have done without the I-693 in the first place.

I find it somewhat amusing though, since much of the evidence I sent in my response was stuff they already had minus the I-693. I went on to read a link that brought me to a USCIS Adjudicator's Field manual, section 10.5 is an interesting read, I pasted a section below (I had saved this to my desktop a while back, would have to search for the original posting with the link:

Adjudicator's Field Manual - Redacted Public Version \ Chapter 10 An Overview of the Adjudication Process. \ 10.5 Requesting Additional Information. [Chapter 10.5 update effective July 7, 2011.]

10.5 Requesting Additional Information. [Chapter 10.5 update effective June 18, 2007.]

(a) General .

(1) Reasons for Requesting Additional Information .

USCIS issues written notices in the form of a request for evidence (RFE) to request missing initial or additional evidence from applicants or petitioners who filed for immigration benefits.

(2) Considerations Prior to Issuing RFEs .

RFEs should, if possible, be avoided. Requesting additional evidence or returning a case for additional information may unnecessarily burden USCIS resources, duplicate other adjudication officers efforts, and delay case completion

Initial case review should be thorough. Evidence or information not submitted with the application, but contained in other USCIS records or readily available from external sources should be obtained from those sources first rather than going back to the applicant for information or evidence.

Good morning Lise,

Thank you for sharing what you learned!!

Like you, I struggled with whether or not to see a CS for an I-693 when I was preparing my wife's AOS package. After reading the much debated I-693 vs. DS-3025 topic, I decided to just go with my wife's DS-3025 and copies of what she received at the medical facility in China.

Like many K-1 AOS filers, I was initially confused by the term "incomplete". But as Nick-Nick explained, it is incomplete for medical reasons and can be waived.

From my experience, I would advice K-1 beneficiaries to have their vaccination done at the USCIS authorized medical facility in their country. In our case, my wife (then fiancee) had her medical done before her interview so that she can have a medical report for the interview. After she passed her interview, she went for vaccination. She was given a sealed envelop with a signed DS-3025 along with a copy of the DS-3025 for our record, an international vaccination record book and a vaccination worksheet listing the dosage given to her and recommended booster shots to follow if desired.

As Nick-Nick explained, booster shots are not required for AOS, but flu shots may be required for filers after October 1st.

Of course anything can happen, for instance I read about USCIS losing someone's medical records and RFE for a complete medical.

Good find on USCIS's RFE guideline. As you said, it is amusing. Somehow common sense has to be written in a manual :)

I'm confused on something on the i-765. Under question 1 it says "USCIS Office" "Date" and "Result". Would this be the uscis office we sent our paperwork to previously, the result is obviously approved, but what about the date? The date it was approved? help!!

I'm confused on something on the i-765. Under question 1 it says "USCIS Office" "Date" and "Result". Would this be the uscis office we sent our paperwork to previously, the result is obviously approved, but what about the date? The date it was approved? help!!

Christine,

I think you're looking at part of question 11: "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?"

We answered "No" for my wife's and wrote "(N/A)" for both "Date" and "Result".
