How likely will A.P. be after interview? (Abu Dhabi ) [edited title]

I started looking through VJ and other sites for info on the consulate in Abu Dhabi and it seems like they do a lot of A.P. Maybe I am seeing this information wrong because I have gotten myself all worked up, I just don't know. My fiance is actually a Pakistani National but was born and raised in the Emirates and has not spent more than 2 months in Pakistan his whole life! I realize that the fact he is Pakistani and residing in an Arab country that these could both be cause for A.P. I have read a lot that it should be expected that a male from a middle eastern country will receive A.P. But I want to know if there is a chance he won't. I plan to attend the interview at the end of July and I just want to bring him home with me.

It's extremely common, and should be expected, that a male Middle Easterner (Muslim, one presumes) would be placed on AP.

In general, it can be folly of the highest order to "presume" issuance of a visa. Anything can happen. In this situation, I would suggest that you plan nothing in advance except to go home afterwards and wait it out. If you're pleasantly surprised by a positive result at the interview, the making of whirlwind travel arrangements will be a joy for you.

Some say yes and some say no. You guys all say yes, geeezz. Anyone know how long it lasts on average? Just don't want to get stuck in the "blackhole" of AP.

And if we are put on AP, what is your advice? It appears accourding to your signature that you had some issues with your own consulate. How long should we wait before we decide it is best for us to move there?

I have never heard of a case like this not involving AP. Who said otherwise?

There was another thread in this forum about someone bringing their fiance from Pakistan and that was where I got the info that it was not necessarily true we would be up for AP.

And what exactly do you mean by a case like this?

I have seen people from some of these countries that were not put on AP myself. Have a look at Pakistan's consulate and some of the others. Many do get put on AP, but not every single one.

I am trying to remain somewhat optimistic here. Can you blame me?

If someone from a Middle Eastern/North African country were NOT put on AP, it would be an extreme anomaly; that's what Boiler means. Otherwise, I agree with him: it will take as long as it takes, especially if your fiance has a common name or there's a match with someone's name who's on a "list." You can remain optimistic while viewing the big picture: AP is very, very routine for a ME/NA beneficiary. You may find more information and definitely support in the MENA regional subforum here.

There is one poster who does not sound that familiar with the process from South Cyprus.

South Cyprus is predominately Greek Orthodox, in no way comparable to MENA and particularly Pakistan.

I would normally say that you may or may not have issues bringing an ME man to the US, but given recent events in Pakistan, I say you absolutely will. You can bet money on that. Sorry.
