So we hit the 6 month mark yesterday and our congressional liason had told us we would receive a formal decision no later than April 13th. So I made all the calls and everyone said our case was still in "initial review" I was clearly not happy with that. So I called the congress person working my case. She made a phone call and said "you're approved!" So we were very happy and excited but I never got the email or text message confirming anything. Waited all day and got nothing. So today I checked the website and called VSC and they said I was still in initial review and that maybe I needed to wait an additional 34 days  because they are still only processing case from September 11, 2010... which is clearly not true because I know some of you from October and November even have been approved. (congrats by the way  ) So I asked "If I were a congressional liason, who would I be speaking to in order to get information on this case?" He transfered me to a "second tier" person in customer service. And that guy confirmed that we are approved and were approved on April 12th! They apparently sent us the NOA2 in the mail 2 days ago. We signed up for email/txt notifications so I don't know why we didn't get that. Oh well, we are so so so so happy to get our good news and will be even more happy when the NOA2 comes in the mail so we can frame it or something!

So I wanted to tell those of you getting to the 5 and 6 month mark get your congressman and both senators involved! This is what we pay taxes for!! Our senators didn't do much but our congressman's people were great! And don't take whatever junk the bottom tier of VSC tells you, get your call escalated to someone who has more information because clearly the people at the bottom are not well informed and the website is not up to date. Good luck to all of you still waiting, just keep working on the things you can control. On to the next step... calling the NVC daily :innocent:

This is my experience, I called yesterday after hitting my 5 Months 20 days mark and the customer support guy mentioned "Sorry sir, we are still working up to September 11, 2010 cases and the will work on October cases.". Therefore, I threw the question, "how did a friend of mine get approved who filed on November?” The Answer was "There are various criteria’s to make that selection". In addition, I said, "Yes, understood. Then tell me that you are selecting based on various combinations and not by months, which you mentioned September 11". I guess the person did not have any more information or was reading a script because he kept going round and round. To me the first line of USCIS support is more like the insurance claims office or the subway conductors. Reject all claims at the first petition and/or whatever is the reason for the delay tells the passenger that there is train congestion. What I believe needs to happen is to educate the support people with better information. On the other hand, I sometimes wonder, may be that has been deliberately designed such way!!!!!

Thanks for your suggestion and will escalate accordingly once I hit my 6 months mark.

If you have hit the 5 month mark, CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN!!! tell them the processing time on the website is 5 months and your case is taking longer. They will make an inquiry and probably tell you to wait another month and then you should have a decision. That's what I did and the people working my case at the congressman's office were fantastic. It's worth a shot. Try the senators too, you never know what strings people are capable of pulling.

Congrats to you, I hope you get the notice very soon....

It is our 5th month mark and I must say, I called and got tier one person

and he acted like he was God, I told him I wanted to find out what is going on and get some

answers because people after me and even in 2011 are getting aproved for what ever reason.

WELL he said "I dont know where you are getting your information but you are very misinformed,

and need to rethink where I get my information from." WOW.

I told this person I would like to find out what is going on and what is the real prossing time frame.

I was told it is not 5 months it is between 7 and 10 months respectfully. I was not happy...

I asked why they wont tell all of us the truth.

The person told me that they have really up to 10 months in reality to finish any one case.

Talk about the run around, all I got was the run around...

I even called senator and congressman and got the same run around so now what do I do...

Up for any information

You should not be getting the run around from congressmen and senators. Our taxes pay their salary and they know it. Try writing a very... to the point but respectful letter to the congressman. My mother wrote a letter to my congressman about my case and received a phone call that very week from their office saying they had looked in to the case (they already had my info and privacy release form) and that I would get a decision by April 13th, and I did. Emphasize that as a tax paying citizen all of us should be treated fairly, with respect and given acurate information regarding a case for which the check was already cashed blah blah blah. Good luck!!
