Definitely have thought of moving there; but there's that problem of money. Moving there would mean finding a job for the present time and somehow having money saved up for retirement in 20 years. I just cant see it happening.

But if I win the lottery..... I'm on the next plane out of here. :D

I have same issue, i did live with her in Philippines for 3 months, love the place. We actually have a plan and as i write this i am purchasing land there with her to build an internet cafe and/or boarding house for income. There are many ways for usc to make money there if you think outside the box of getting a job. In 3-5 years we will be living there for good.

Even though my wife has been here in the US for over 2 years we think about moving back to the Philippines everyday. If I could afford it we would be gone tomorrow, but we will have to wait until retirement (or win the lottery :) )

I've thought about this many many times. With my SO being in Jamaica, I can stay there up to 3 months at a time currently. However, knowing that I have bills and student loans to pay for here in the US, it makes it really hard to get up and just move. It would DEFINITELY be nice though!

Timeline

I just got off the phone discussing the same thing with my husband. He has been in Administrative Processing for a little over a month in Nigeria. Who knows how long it will take for AP to end and what the final result will be. This process is MUCH harder than we ever envisioned. Although our preference is to have him here in the US, if things don't work out that way then we would have to move to be with him. The children are in agreement with this although my 12 year old prefers to go to school in the US, but we've decided better to be together as a family in Nigeria, than apart in the US.

The hardest part about this journey is that you are so powerless, all you can do is present the best information and just wait...and wait...and wait. Some days I just don't know what to do with myself.

Just putting it out there. I sometimes feel so sad being away from the person that I love with all my heart(Sorry for sounding corny) that sometimes I feel maybe I should just go with him to his country or somewhere else. have any of you thought of that. Going insane here!!!! :ot:

Maybe when I retire and wish to live off my limited income , I will decide to go my Fiancee's country and live confortably . For now --it is the good old USA.

I already lived with her in China for a year. I would prefer us to live here but if it comes down to it I'll move there. It's easy to find a job, it's cheap and while freedom of speech is severely limited the police tend to not sweat the small things like they do here especially if you're foreign. In many ways its better to be a foreigner in China than to be a Chinese person. 中国加油!

  • 1 month later...

Well some countries have a speedier process, the length of this is what wears on our nerves. We were looking into moving to my husband's country (UK) and from what I read the process was quicker, but still a process. I figure we're settled here, but he misses home and his family. When we reach our 4 year anniversary in November more options would be opened to us for moving to the UK. Not sure what I'd do for work though as I do medical billing and with the NHS what need would they have for a medical biller.
