hi there, im looking for anyone who has gone through the same situation as im dealing with now: im currently working on the I-129F. everything is fine when it comes to proving me and my fiance have a legit relationship, problem is when we met in japan, she entered japan under a different name, so she lived and work in japan with another identity. she is afrom philippines, so were going to be upfront with everything, because me and fiance are both afraid when she goes in for the interview and they ask her where we met, an she says japan, they might ask her how she got there and blah blah blah...so if anyone out there had a fiance with the same situation, and brought them over to the states successfully, please sahre ur story with me, maybe give me some tips. thank you!

you mean that she entered Japan with a fake ID? if this is the case, even if she wasn't asked at the interview, down the line she'd still need to answer "yes" to the question "did you ever commit a crime for which you were not arrested". not to be pessimistic, but I surely wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

It is even more complicated than stated by newlyweds because if they determine you met in Japan, then they will ask how long she was in Japan. She might need to provide a police clearance or certificate depending on the 6/12 months and how long she lived in Japan.

I won't even ask what her job was?

Good luck

You will need to tell the truth, as she will need a police cert if she lived there longer than 6 months, and will need to list the alternate name she used. USCIS generally don't care if you've lived illegally in a different country, but at the very least there will be some questions at the interview.

because I suppose that your goal is to marry and live together in the US and, from what you're telling us and from what I read in your other thread, I see it VERY hard to accomplish. So, unless the Navy stations you in the Philippines, you guys will continue having a long distance relationship.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
