amby ... i posted the definition. google will confirm.

given the "PC" attitude here on vj ... i'm surprised this thread is still visible.

if this survives ... just think of all the other non "PC" derogatory connotations we can use about other peoples. i can think of a few stereotypical terms that should then be considered acceptable on vj.

that said ... let the games begin ....

...ok

You are from Houston.

Are you really offended by the term HillBilly? I think it is more funny/silly than insulting.

Speaking of Houston...I'll get back to topic.

When I was a student at the University of Houston Downtown campus decades ago in the 1970's I used to see dozens of these alligator gar fish in Buffalo Bayou that flows right behind the school building. I had classes on some of the upper stories of the building with a bird's eye view of the bayou. Some of these alligator gars were huge. There were also huge catfish I would see from time to time. The gars would just hang out on top of the water, but the catfish only came up to the surface once in a while to gulp air. There were also huge softshell turtles in the bayou too. Needless to say, Buffalo Bayou is a stagnant and polluted body of water that runs right through the center of downtown Houston. So I was really surprised that such huge fish exist in the middle of downtown Houston among the skyscrapers.

I didn't see any hillbillies there though. There were and are are lots of winos and bums living under the bayou bridges. They have hobo camps inside the bridge tunnels.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
