USCIS updates are confusing!

so we got email updates for both the EAD and AOS,both seem quick! So I just wanted to check and see what they actually mean.

For EAD:( It is in the "Card/Documentation Production" phase)

"On February 17, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application."

For AOS:( It is in the "Card/Documentation Production" phase)

It seems like they were both approved and are being sent but for either one of them we didn't get an 'official' approval email...so I'm confused and a bit worried :/

That's how it works. It will go backwards to approval. It's normal and what supposed to happen.

We had a case transfer to California, but no interview....not sure if that is good or bad or means approved or not :/

its GOOD NEWS!!!! - they ordered the green card without interview, so they approved your application!!! Wow....now that's a rare sight

Keep us posted that this was no online "Typo" when you receive the cards in the mail

Just called the immigration and it was approved....both of them!! No interview or RFEs ...WOW! YAY

If AOS and EAD are approved at the same time, what is the point of EAD? They should just ignore the EAD if they cannot approve it before the AOS.

No it's not a rare sight. It's quite common for K1 AOS'ers. It WAS more common months ago before the big slow-down.

Did you not realise it was a possibility? No-one knows the actual percentage (people guess 50/50 but I've seen more approved without interview from K1 on this site than i've seen have an interview.. obviously this site is a small sample size but still...) but K1's don't need interviews because they had one to get the K1 in the first place. Sometimes you'll get an interview either because your local office has a quota to fulfil, or they suspect your relationship. People AOSing from visitor or other visas need interviews because they never had one (about their relationship).

Obviously your paperwork was in order and your relationship didn't raise any red-flags. Congrats!
