my interview experience (VISA approved!)

my interview was scheduled for 6:30am and i was there by 5am (excited & nervous!) :P but there were a lot of people already so the guard started calling those with 6:15, 6:30 and 6:45 appointment and told us to sit (in order) on the benches in the immigrant area.

waited like an hour...just sitting and hungry so for those who are going for an interview, make sure you've eaten na. you can't bring any food or liquid inside but there's booth inside with some crackers and chips and bottled water you can buy.

by 6am, they started letting us in by 5's. they'll scan everything so make sure you dont bring any electronic gadget or you'll get in trouble with the security people. first line is to get your queue number where they asked for the DS forms, receipt and your photos. (don't worry there are guards and employees who'll assist you in every corner). once you have your queue number, sit and wait for your number to be flashed on the screen for the initial interview. it would tell you what window to go to. Or you could be called first for fingerprinting, they dont flash your number for this so be attentive. They'll call the names and tell you to fall in line by the window 16 or 33.

my initial interviewer was a Filipino guy, very friendly. he asked for my NBI, Birth Certificate, CENOMAR while asking questions like the name of my fiance; how me and fiance met; how many times he visited me; what his job is; if i've ever been out of the country, how long and what was the purpose of the trip; he asked if my fiance has ever been married and asked for the copy of the divorce decree; he asked if my fiance gives me money and i said no so he asked if i have a job and i said yes (maybe they'll ask for receipt for this so bring if you have any)then he asked for support of evidence which I've put in one folder (we have the competed I-134, 2010 & 2009 W2s, 1040 and most recent 6mos bank statements); then he asked if i have pictures, letter, emails, phone records so i started pulling them out of my folder but he didnt look at them and just said the consulate would be looking at them. And we're done, told me to wait for my name to be called for fingerprinting.

So i waited for another 30min and my name was called and was instructed to go to this window and bring my queue number. they call people here by 5's as well. That took like 5min only then you wait for your number on the screen for the final interview.

The consulate was an american guy who asked me first how i was doing. Everybody was just friendly on that day. He first asked me to raise my right hand and he swore me in. Then the questions began. Who is your petitioner? How old is he? Have you ever been married? Do you have children? Does he have children? How many times has he been married? Do you promise to marry him within 90 days of your arrival in the US? What does your fiance do for fun? (I said he likes singing so he asked me what songs he sings haha!) All the while he was busy looking and flipping through the pages of now a very thick file of the petition which i think includes the original I-129F petition, medical Result, and the forms you gave on that day. He also asked about my fiance's job and if i have plans to pursue a carrer in the US. He asked for our photos so i gave him all the pictures i brought, he looked at those then said, "Ok ma'am, looks like everything is ok, your visa has been approved! You can wait outside for your name to be called." I was soooo happy to hear those words!!!

Then you just wait again for your name and they'll give you the courier's form to fill out. Then you go home. So I took a cab to get home fast so I can call my fiance! This was one of my happiest days ever!! Wish everyone goodluck on their journey and hope you all get to experience a smooth interview as well.

Thread moved from AOS forum as it is not an AOS topic to the more appropriate K-1 Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports forum.

Congratulations! :)
