A gunman died today after apparently shooting himself in the head following a 16-hour stand-off with police.

Paramedics spent more than three hours trying to save the man after at least one shot was fired on Leagrave Common, in Luton.

Eyewitnesses said the man was holding a sawn-off shotgun to his chin before the blast rang out shortly before midday.

I don't know.

If I held a shot gun to my chin... and it went off, not sure I would want to be "saved" by the paramedics.

Just another example of senseless gun violence in the UK. Perhaps a few gun laws would help avert this type of tragedy from happening again?

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Just because you call an aberration the norm doesn't mean that it is.

Just because 15,500 people get shot every year in the US doesn't mean we have a violent or "unsafe" society. - Yet that seems to be a commonly held belief around here.

It probably was legal for him to have the shotgun. Sawed off? No. But, that's easy enough to overcome with legal-to-own saws and stuff.

Perhaps now they'll make saws harder to own?

Your "factoid" needs to be sterilized as it apparently came out of your a$$. 15,500 is roughly the number of murders annually and roughly 66% are gun related, but gun shot wound victims average two or three times that number annually and victims of major violent crimes Involving guns number In the hundreds of thousands.
