So, just an update, in case anyone remembers this thread. I went to the plastic surgeon's office yesterday for a consult.

I started to feel a bit wary of the whole thing when I was sitting in the waiting room and a girl about my age with very expensive jeans and blonde hair extensions came in and said "I've recently been billed for my....'here'" to the woman behind the desk. Whatever it was that she'd had done, she was obviously ashamed enough that she couldn't say it out loud. Of course, being curious, I started mentally rearranging the faces and bodies of that girl and every other person in the waiting room...

In the appointment, the doctor, who was wearing a sharky pin stripe suit, showed me his porfolio of noses. I told him I just wanted the tip cut off, but he wasn't having it. I said I still wanted to look Jewish and that I wasn't interested in the JAP nose job. He assured me that straightening out the bump was necessary, or it would just look like a bad nose job. And that having a Jewish nose was an obstacle to beauty. He told me I already looked Jewish because of...my hair. My hair? Yeah, he told me, it's got some curl. #######? My hair is back to its natural color, which happens to be BLONDE.

Then he said, "you have such big eyes, full lips, and a nice complexion... it's a shame that nobody is looking at those things because they are just staring at your nose. I can help. And I can give you a discount because your dad is such a nice guy."

I started feeling like I was buying a used car.

This guy is supposed to be the best in the Mpls area.

So, after being reassured by Rey that everyone is NOT staring at my nose, I have actually come to feel better about my nose than I did before the consult. Maybe I'll get the tip cut off when it starts to droop, but I'm not going to do it now.

There are numerous ways I could sew this up neatly into the lesson I learned here, but you get the idea.

yes she is.

It does seem like cosmetic surgery consultations are very obviously a sales pitch- whcih is such a shame. They could at least try to act genuine!! When I was in there, I took my mum and the surgeon looked at ther and said 'well your mum could use some work on her nose as well!!' She didnt like that at all!

At the end of the day, its all about money, and the more they get out of you the better. There really as no need for him to criticise your looks like that, like we have all said- you are beautiful as you are.

I like your looks.

My advice is talk to an ear nose throat specialist and find out if it could be a problem with your breathing later in life. If they say yes there is a posability then I would do it while you are young, easy to recover from surgery when you are younger.

I don't think you need surgery. Do you really want the same nose as everyone else who has nose jobs ends up with!? I don't think so, and you are a very pretty girl as you are.
