I filed my i-751 just at the end of my 90 days (foolish) . i mailed it a week before my greencard expired. They have reutrned my package stating that i only sent one check instead of two individual ones, i totalled amount for biometrics and fees. I am now ten days expired on my greenxcard. I am worried sick that when i resubmit they will deny because im outside my 90 days. Will they acknoledge that i sent original application on time or ??? i am terrified

Not sure if this helps but if you go to the instructions, on the first page that pops up on the right side labled "3. effect of not filing."

Its weird because the instructions also say further down that you CAN send one check with both fees totaled at 590$

They should have on file that you filed the I-751 before expiration.

I would do two things.

1. File using 2 checks.
   
2. Print out the page from USCIS.Gov indicating that ONE check is fine, highlighting this and attach to your check.
   

Keep a copy of the RFE letter for your records.

FYI, in my wife's case we filed ONE check for I-485, and later ONE check for I-751

Absolute ####### indeed! I even think most people have filed it with one check combining the fees.

I hate the USCIS. The directions say to file with one check covering the both the I-751 and the biometrics.

Me neither. Check the fee on your check & check it twice. Heck, I guess it's risky to file last minute. Hope soon to be filers can learn from this.

I read that other people experienced the same problem at the AOS stage: they sent one check and received the whole envelope back. many others had no problems whatsoever by sending one check including biometrics fee.

I agree seems strange. We filed with one check for fee and 3 bio's and no problems at all.

Keep in mind you will encounter MORONS everywhere, the initial processing center at USCIS has no shortage of them.

One thing that infuriates me the most are people who show total lack of common sense, this is one of them.

wow...my mouth hit the ground after reading this...we just sent ours in today with 1 check...i have the instructions right here in front of me and it says "you may submit one check or money order for both the application and biometric fees, for a total of $590". we too have waited til the end to file this...what was the amount you sent?
