NOA2 in 27 days?

I was just going over the time lines and noticed that some of the NOA2s came rather quickly!!! I realize that this is user inputted data, and I also understand that the 5 month projection is a estimated maximum based on total user data which of course could end up being a lot more or a lot less.

However, 27 days is something I was not expecting. This makes the total Days from Initial Petition Sent to Interview only 156 days! :wow:

Example:

NOA1 2010-06-01

NOA2 2010-06-28

Interview 2010-10-25

Sometimes it's just a freak thing, no one knows why. In June, Vermont started pumping out NOA2s in under a month. It stopped very quickly but it sounds like that's where you pulled that above timeline from.

When I filed in September of last year we were a very lucky bunch. My petition was approved in 33 days. I've seen them go as fast as less than a week before, back when I first joined VJ. Best thing to do is to not kick yourself over things you can't control. September 2009 had a fast month, but those before us or after us didn't. No one knows why some months they're like lightning and other months they're like snails. And trying to figure out why someone from January is still waiting while someone from August just got approved is only going to cause you a headache.

Also, once I may have gotten my NOA2 in October, but I didn't get an interview date until January.

There are other forces controlling visa times other than USCIS. It all sucks, and the waiting is hard. Heck, one of the September 2009 filers got locked out of the USCIS case updater thingie for a while because she figured out a way to see if other September petitions besides the ones on VJ had been approved. No matter how fast or how slow, it'll always drive you crazy. :)

Really? That's interesting. A bunch of the June filers figured that out too and were even posting charts on our June filers thread to show these random people who had been approved. To my knowledge, no one got locked out, though. Interesting.

Well it went on for about a month at a crazy amount per day. They finally did lock her out, but it was only for a week or so. Maybe they've become more lenient now, or just simply haven't been looking very much if one of the other filers has been doing it for a while, and whatever the case, enjoy it.

The service centers go on "spurts" and concentrate on certain types of petitions on which the centers have fallen behind. Also, sometimes a newly received petition can be pulled and worked on right away as a training exercise. They're all eventually handled, hard though the wait is.

I had the misfortune (unbeknownst to me at the time) of filing right before fees were to go up, and being caught in a flood of petitions. Furthermore, 6 months later, almost everyone else on VJ who had filed at the same time I did was approved. I had to make some persistent calls and apply some diplomacy to pry mine free. It turned out that my petition had been sitting on a transit cart between workstations for quite some time. Frustrating though that was, it was nothing when compared with the unspeakable treatment at the ####### consulate. The AOS/EAD/AP was quick and uneventful, and it was almost a pleasure to deal with USCIS again instead of the DoS. This "waiting stage" for petition approval is hard, but be patient, keep yourself productively occupied, build evidence for the consular stage, and keep the faith.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Some of us got lucky, they moved the workload a bit in vermont from 5/15- 7/1/2010 approx.... We got our NOA2 rather quickly, but I also think it has something to do with where the beneficiary comes from too. I had two fellow VJ'ers that filed for their filipino spouse at the same time and still waited 4 months. Mine was from Costa Rica, so there arent any problems there and no hurdles for immigration (they dont issue a packet 4 there, you get packet a 3 and make appt same day)....

I wish everyone lots of luck, and just remember, everyday that passes is one day closer to that NOA2 ....
