Consulate Review: Costa Rica
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : upon entry to the embassy, you are greeted at the entrance by a young lady full of smiles! we arrived early on 10/07 and it was really hot out, so they let us in 30 minutes early. took a number and sat down... since I was there for interview it was relatively easy... we had all the info we needed for interview, and they only asked us two questions... when did we meet, and what was my purpose for that initial trip... that was it! I was amazed. We did however have one document expired (birth cert from national registry), so we had to return on 10/12 with the doc... really easy to get. returned on 10/12, and was told they will call to notify when visa is available for pickup, approx 1 week.. as our departure date neared of 10/23, we hadnt heard anything in a little over one week, so I called on 10/21, and was told the visa is ready for pick-up and can come pick it up after 3pm ( they also stated they were unable to call since they are backlogged and extremely busy ) recv visa, and entry into U.S. was on 10/23 --- very easy through orlando! -- word of advice, be there for the interview.. we saw someone denied, the officer stated I need your fiance here with you, and another girl who was solo was asked question after question for approx 30 minutes.. I felt bad for her. It is EXTREMELY EASY when both parties are present. Also the day of interviewing and recv visa the day after are long gone. give yourself time in between interview and departure date...
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
