Hi,

Got approval on 11/17. Received letter on 11/22.

HOWEVER .. Our USCIS.GOV page is stuck on "decision" and has not moved to "Card/Document Production".

Also, it seems that others who were approved on 11/15 or 17 have received their cards according to the Immigration Timeline tables.

Should we be concerned? We were hoping to get the card before Saturday as we are leaving the country to visit family.

Thanks

look, no offence, but there is no POSSIBLE way for us to know when you're getting your GC. Production could be slowed by Thanksgiving Day, and the holidays that followed. Your postie could have lost it. There's nothing you can do but wait.

**Edit - look at my timeline for instance. it took 16 days for me to get my GC from my approval date.

If your green card has not arrived before you leave, be sure to take your AP, and if asked at the border, let them know your green card didn't arrive before your trip.

ETA: With the Thanksgiving holidays delaying things a bit, I would not be surprised if it doesn't come until 3-6 Dec.

I thought that I read somewhere that once the GC has been approved that your EAD and AP are no longer valid. You may want to make an info pass appointment to verify that you will still be able to travel using your AP document.

OMG! That would STINK!!

We are leaving Saturday and my wife is a physician. There is NO WAY we can swing the time for that appointment.

Is there any way we can get that information other than an info pass?

Also .. Any comments on the USCIS page not being changed to "in production"?

I know those updates or lack thereof caa be unreliable.

Thanks.

It will come within 10 business days of you getting the first email about card production/approval. So if you say it was the 17, I will guess you get the card by Dec 2. (My source on this 10 business days thing is a uscis congressperson liason).

Don't get worried about the tracking homepage, it sucks.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Thanks for your vote of confidence about getting the card.

Problem is that if it DOESN'T come in, it could be a serious problem for us IF the fact is you cannot travel on your AP if you are approved, have approval letter in hand, but do not yet have GC.

What is the TRUTH about traveling after approval but before getting card using the AP and the approval letter?? Does anyone know?

If we need the I-551 stamp, then what are the odds of getting infopass appointment before Saturday???

#######??? Even after approval .. this process SUCKS!!!!

Call the 1800 number and ask to speak to an immigration officer (not the normal person that answers the phone). They will be able to tell you for sure whether you can use your AP.

your USC wife doesn't need to attend the infopass so you can go without her to get the stamp (if required).. I would call USCIS then go get the stamp. You can also ask the person who answers the 1800 number (before asking for an immigration officer) whether your GC has been mailed out.. they might not know...

My production email was the 6th July, GC arrived 17th July so that's 11 days. The date on my card is 1st July, but as stated, it didn't arrive till the 17th July (16 days).

The other issue is the OP has the approval email, but no production email. 10 days is usually correct if you go by the production email.. problem is they haven't got that notification.. that's why they're concerned.

I said 10 BUSINESS days, not 10 days. 11 days is less than 10 business days.

True. Mine arrived in nine (9) business days + 1 weekend day... and I was wrong. It took 12 regular days... I just forgot to count the actual day as a day.

As mail arrives on a weekend it's not really fair to use the "business day" model of weekdays because for the post office, Saturday is a business day.

As mail arrives on a weekend it's not really fair to use the "business day" model of weekdays because for the post office, Saturday is a business day.

I say this because when we were desperately trying to get an expedited AP... my husband didn't plan to stay, missed his family, had to give up holidays to be here and do this process... etc, we contacted our senator and tried to get something going. We were told we didn't qualify for an expedite on the AP. However, when it was approved, the senator's office forwarded an email they received from the uscis congressperson liason office, letting us know. This email said "You can tell your constituent that they can expect to receive their AP document within 6 business days and their EAD within 10 business days." It seemed to me, though I am not sure, that this email was not meant to be simply forwarded to "the constituent" mentioned in the letter in the 3rd person (ie me), but I am from a low-population state and everything is relaxed there (not where we currently live). We didn't receive the automatic updates "Approved" email until two days later.

So it is from this correspondence that I am taking this "business day" model, straight from the horses mouth. Business days are normal working days, not Saturday, even though you are right, the post office works on Saturday. But uscis doesn't, and a card will not be produced on a Saturday as far as I know. I am also transferring this information to the GC itself, because the card production process is similar to the EAD. I am not parroting this "10 days" from someone else.

So, the OP has not passed the 10 business day mark, they are only on about 5 business days. I am not sure whether USCIS worked on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Beyond that, you are right, we can't know when they will get their GC... it might get lost in the mail or something. Uscis tells the public it takes up to 30 days to cover their butts. And not getting the card production email is a bit strange, but my impression from the email I received was that the process was pretty automatic once the approval button was pushed. (I was told 10 business days before I even received an approval email from the updater, and long before the card production email).

Update ..

I have to say it isn't WHAT you know, it is WHO you know.

I swear, our application was submitted in January 2010, transferred in February, and then ended up in the dead letter bin. I FINALLY called Congressman in October .. and BAM .. things started moving ...

Then this no green card after approval issue came up ..... so I called someone I know with ties to Hameland Security and he called local USCIS office and he got me in for an appointment with out using Infopass.

We got our I-551 stamp today. WHEW!!

I HIGHLY recommend that you call people in high places if you get frustrated with your case and have due cause!!!!

Did you happen to ask at your appointment if it was correct that your AP is no longer valid once your GC has been approved? I am fairly certain that I had read this several times before, but it would be nice to know if I am giving the 100% correct advice!
