Walk-in biometrics in Columbus, Ohio?

I haven't received the letter yet, but my husband and I are trying to figure out if we should go at the appointed time, or if we should try to do a walk-in. Our concern is that if our scheduled time is at 8am, or something like that, it will be a huge headache. We live far from there and the morning rush hour would je be a huge pain.

So, has anyone tried to do a walk-in in Columbus, Ohio? And, is there a phone number we can call to ask them if they would let us do it?

11/03/10 ------- AoS (I-130/I-485) Package mailed out (Priority Mail)

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/12/10 ------- Touches on I-130, I-485 and I-765

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

I don't believe the time of day is an issue. Walk-in "success" seems to be based on how busy the ASC is on that day.

Also FWIW, when we went last week for Linh's (final) biometrics there was a yellow threat level posted on the wall and the sign stated that only appointments for that day would be accepted. Now I didn't ask the person checking in the appointments how closely that was enforced.

I don't believe the time of day is an issue. Walk-in "success" seems to be based on how busy the ASC is on that day.

Also FWIW, when we went last week for Linh's (final) biometrics there was a yellow threat level posted on the wall and the sign stated that only appointments for that day would be accepted. Now I didn't ask the person checking in the appointments how closely that was enforced.

Thank you very much! If we can go at any time of the appointed day, then that will work out fine. I'm just terrified to have to go and get caught in traffic and possibly be late, etc.

I don't know about colombus,OH but here in Louisville, KY they had a sign that pretty much said they will take walk ins except that people with appointments at that time have priority in line.

I know it is a long drive for you but what I would do is may be call them and ask? or you can go and say that you thought you should try before the time. I honestly dont think they will turn you down if you said you drove from a far place. I live about an hour drive from Louisville and they were nice enough to take me in!

That's the thing. I'm wondering if I can call them. Will I have their specific phone number on the letter or should I just call the misinformation hot-line?

I believe it is impossible to call the local ACS, just as it is for the local offices.... Otherwise people would bother them all day and nothing would get done! :) I think the only chance is to go there and see what they say. Come on Kitty, it's time to practice your sweet-talkin'! ;)

FYI- in most cases I don't think doing early biometrics speeds anything up anyway, but hey, if there is a slight chance it will get sped-up, go for it!

I went to Columbus ASC office this week only. Yes you can walk in early if you have the appointment letter. There was no rush at all, just the ppl who having their appointment scheduled that day would be given priority.

This whole walk-in patchwork that varies from ASC to ASC is a real pain in the ####.

Fort Worth gave me a lot of hassle when the office was completely empty except for myself and the staff. Others seem to have no issue.
