Still waiting on NOA2...semi patiently :D. While I'm waiting I'm doing quite a few things with getting the house ready for him, getting info on registering him for classes, making connections, etc in anticipation of his arrival. Let's say we get the NOA2 in the next couple weeks as the timeline is estimating, would we possibly get an interview date at the end of Nov/beginning of Dec with enough time for him to possibly be here for Christmas?

You're keeping yourself positively occupied, which is great! You may want to pose your question in the Sub-Saharan Africa regional subforum for a volume of answers, although some of the good VJ members there also read this forum. In general, much depends on when USCIS will process the petition, how long it takes to wend its way to the appropriate embassy, and how swamped that embassy is with interviews to be scheduled. Some U.S. embassies in Africa have recently been inundated with "diversity visa" applications, I understand. Keep your hopes up, but be realistic! :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

i am actually doing the same exact thing.. cleaning out my closet and drawers to make room for his stuff... and i also applied to a community college for him which he was accepted too.. its just for him to register when he gets here.. trying to keep myself busy as well but it is still stressful thinking about it.. i am also hoping for christmas!! actually more like praying for it!!!

you might still have hope depends on how busy they are in Gambia....have you been to the Gambia portal to see what there pattern has been lately? meaning how long it is taking the embassy there to schedule interviews...Remain hopeful Good luck :thumbs:

Maybe yes and maybe no. Don't make any concrete plans until the visa is in his hands.

Our interview date is set for Nov 15th-- a month and 9 days after we received NOA2.... You might still have some hope :) way to stay positive!

IF you get your second notice of action early enough ( they are processing early june now ) there might be a possibility,it depends on how busy your consulate is tho

Most African consulates advise 60 days for AP and anywhere from 2 days to over a year for visitors visa appointments. You can look up visitors visas appoint wait times here

wait times I would assume the time for appointments roughly are the same for other visas. ( 72 days for Lagos sounds about right ) So you might get an appoinment but the AP may be a killer.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Since your petition is at the Vermont Service Center you have much more hope than us, poor CSC filers who can be considered lucky to be approved in less than 5 months, so keep the faith! However, do not hold your breath because you might just turn blue and code. Still... Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Thank you all for your advice. Sorry I didn't get back to y'all sooner than this. Between class and work well....LOL I actually sent an email to the Dakar embassy asking them something similar and it sounds positive but one never knows. Still waiting on my NOA2 though. :)
