Hello everybody here, :)

I am from Morocco,

I am 24 years old, I work in the Appeal Court,

I look forward to register myself in the US Lottery in Morocco here.

I always thought there is only ONE TYPE of visa called Green Card, but when I came here I have found a long list of DIFFERENT TYPES of visas.

What is called the one usually 'Moroccan community' (as example) use to go to the USA ??

AND, Is it OBLIGATORY for people who get this green card, obligatory for them to go to the USA, in a specific period ?

For example, can I keep the visa with me, and decide myself when I want to use to travel to the USA, and also decide if I want to stay there or to come back Morocco ?

I absolutely need your help, as I don't have much knowledge about this Green Card.

The DV lottery visa is one of many methods to get a green card ( permanent resident card) If you have a permanent resident you are expected to reside in the US. You can still travel to other places but it is expected you spend a majority of your time inside the US. This card is the way most people eventually become a US citizen. The chances of winning the lottery is about 1 in a million because so many people apply. Make sure you have the proper education and occupation before you apply or you will not get a visa even if you win. check here for more information DV Lottery link

If you want to only visit you want a visitors visa . Those are sometimes very very hard to get. From my husbands country they deny almost everyone.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

If I were you and if I had to choose between applying for the DV lottery or for a tourist visa, I would choose the lottery. That's how hard it is to obtain a tourist visa at your age. If you win the lottery you will definitely be given a time frame to enter US and also you will have to move here to maintain your permanent residence/green card's validity.

I think you're confused about what a green card is. A green card is an alien residence card. You will not receive it until you enter the US. You must have a visa to enter the US, and to get a green card, you must have an immigrant visa (meaning you can't apply for a green card if you enter with a visitor, work, or school visa). At your age, no matter what your job or financial status, you can forget about getting a visitor visa to enter the US from Morocco. I have a friend in Morocco who's around your age, but has a good job, owns a home, $10,000 USD in the bank, and has been refused a visitor visa twice. The DV lottery takes years and there is a very slim chance that you will win it. If you apply now, you will be entered into the lottery for about 3 years from now, so don't expect to receive a visa any time soon even if you do win. You've run into the problem that so many young men from MENA countries experience. There's no easy way out, man. Welcome to our world.

Hello everybody there :)

Thanks a lot a lot for sharing these valued informations about the green card,

Thank you KFOREVER, i now know that there is a 6 month interval after winning the DV.

Thanks SARAH for infos about chances between Green card and tourism purpose visa.

Btw, Sarah , what is MENA countries ?

And, how does i cost now the DV ?

should we pay right after they call you first time ? or at other time ?

I also need your opinion, since 9 months now, i do work now as a Judicial Redactor in the appeal court of Marrakech, I get about 380$ USD per month,

after all, do you think that it worth the fact of moving to the us in consideration of my situation ?

Thanks for your ideas !

It sounds like you are looking to immigrate.

I would guess that the job you have means that you meet the minimum education requirements.

The DV Lottery is free to enter. So no downside from entering. You can take a view as to what you want to do if and when you win it.

It is a long shot, but the odds are not quite that impossible.

If you get it, assume you will live in the US, you can visit elsewhere of course.

Judging from this board the most common method of immigrating to the US would be through marriage to a US Citizen wife.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you Sir or Mdm, for your reply,

however, would you like please to let me know what are the 'minimum education requirements' ?

As for finding a american female citizen, this would probably be even harder then to win the lottery, more especially with the last facts about 11 September .. and its effects on Arabian countries.

Post 2 has the link.

Marriage, well there seems to be quite a few going that route. Impossible to work out the odds.
