Hello,

My Husband and I had our marriage interview a couple of days ago. I'm 21 and my husband is 23 were young so we did not have much documentation available as proof of our bonafide marriage. We don't have our own place - I'm in college and he will be attending as well so we are staying with his family to save money. As our proof we showed our:

Joint bank statement

Gym supscrtiption

Cell phone bill

photos

Going to the interview I was really nervous - I'm also clinically diagnosed with ADD, I have horrible memory. I was extremily nervous at the meeting and the IO could see this. Right away he told my hubby to leave and he interviewed me alone. The IO immediately started accusing our marriage of being a scham. He accused me of marrying my husband for $$ and not actually living together - he did not ask me much about our relationship - straight to accusations :(. He told me he got a bad vibe from us. The IO intimidated me to the point of tears...

In the end he told me he would approve the petition although he had his doubts and stamped his passport.

Questions:

What does this mean? Are we really approved or is there going to be more investigation here? I have heard they will contact your employer and come to your home to ensure you are living together. Is this true ? Should me and my hubby be happy or worried??

He mentioned we would have a second interview in 2 years. Will it be with the same person? What will be covered then? - in two years hopefully we will have more mingled finances. Is this what they are looking for? We want to prevent this from happening again so we want to be prepared.

Congrates! You passed and should get green card production notice shortly. Start gathering more evidence for the next 21 months showing you guys are happily married.

Is the stamp in his passport an I-551 stamp? If so then you were approved.

The green card will be conditional for two years. You have to interview again in two years to remove conditions and get an unconditional green card. That's the second interview he was talking about.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

From what I've seen over the years. If you have plenty evidence you have a bonafide marriage the 10 year GC is given without an interview.

Breathe! Breathe! And now: Congratulations! He was approved, yes.

And now that you know all is good for the next two years, calm down and write down what evidence you are going to gather until the next interview. And if they really need to interview you again, you can go there calm because you will be armed to the teeth with proof and show them!! :)

Alles wird gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, ist es noch nicht vorbei.
