I've been told and I'm listening. So far, the best argument I've heard for staying here is that you can totally tell Dale Winton wears false eyelashes when you see him in HD.

Thankfully these days Dale is confined to doing the Lottery and there are no longer horrible gameshows hosted by him - like Supermarket Sweep or Pets Win Prizes.

..why don't you just f*cking leave?

Everyone here is married to someone from another country.

Just pack your bags and get the hell out?

I, for one, did leave and stayed away for 15 years before I married my husband from another country and moved back home. And during my entire stay away, which I loved, I was still an American, and proud of it. I still worried over what was going on back home. 9/11 was as devastating or more devastating to me because I was away. The levee breaks in NOLA broke my heart, as much as if I were back in LA sleeping on the floor of relatives who live farther from the coast than my hometown. Maybe more so because the news about what was really happening was superceded by the senstional scenes of people waiting to be rescued.

If you left, would you turn your back on your country? Then, maybe you should be the one who leaves.

We probably will move abroad again once my husband becomes a citizen, but I will always be an American and I will always worry about the direction my country is taking.

It's my motherf*cking country. Why should I have to leave? Only a wussy would take that route. Grow some balls. If you don't like the direction the country is heading...change it. Throw the phonies out in 2010 and 2012.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

I just might. ;)

Hey, I asked the question from a rhetorical perspective. Every day here on Vj is the constant moaning and complaining over the state of the country. And it's from the same crowd (some of whom I see have already found their way to this thread)!

I liken this type of behavior to someone who is in a bad relationship but doesn't take the steps to get out.

Get out yer gilded pitchforks!

You're very concrete, aren't you?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

This vast, deep Vj recollection of yours must be one reason you are part of the Vj Mod Squad!

Where the hell are you from that taught you that the only way to deal with problems is is to physically leave? Do you practice this theory every time a spouse pisses you off? Does this mean you get divorced a lot?

You must be from a place that discouages dissent, free speech and opposition to political change. This country allows dissent, complaints and even activism to make change. If you don't like it, then you are free to leave, and we will continue to be free to express our views.

I've probably been married less often than you ;) .

You have the option to leave also. I'm asking why you don't.

Because surely if you believe your own rhetoric, there is nothing that can be done about things.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
