Well, we finished third but had a great run with one of the youngest teams of the tournament. I love the way the boys played. England 4:1, Argentina 4:0. Man, that in itself is a huge accomplishment. Yes, I would have loved to see the Mannschaft bring the title home this year but these guys are young and will be the team to beat in 2014. We have two players in the 10 nominees for the Golden Ball and one (of 3) in the contest for Young Player of the World Cup. I think Müller deserves that award. And Diego Forlan ought to be awarded the Golden Ball - that guy is just brilliant.

All in all, this was a great World Cup for Germany. It's telling that of the 3 million spectators at FIFA's official fan fests in six cities (Rio, Mexico City, Sydney, Paris, Rome and Berlin), about half the crowd - more than 1.5 million fans - turned out at the Berlin venue. The boys will receive a hero's welcome in Berlin when they return and they sure deserve it. Too bad they didn't play their game on Wednesday. Had they done it, they'd be in the final against The Netherlands today.

Brazil better watch out - 2014 might just be the year where they don't fetch the title on their own turf.

Paul the Octopus better from now on gets fed only the best octopus food out there :D That guy is just totally right! ;)

That picture of Forlan isn't very good. On the field he looked way better and totally reminded me of Matthew McConaughe (spelling, osrry too lazy to look it up). He definitely has charisma and something about him. Maybe he just sucks in pictures, I know people who look awesome in really life but on pictures always look odd.
