state on your resume or cover letter that you're able to work in the US? I mean if someone looks at your resume and such and sees all jobs and education are foreign, wouldn't they put that resume at the bottom of the stack?

i'm thinking of stating that I can work in the US. What are you all doing?

I put a simple sentence in my resume that I am legally allowed to work in the USA. I don't see any harm in it.

'Authorized to work by DHS - No Sponsorship required'.

The flipside of 'no sponsership required', is that majority of entities that refuse to engage with H1-B folks, usually say 'No Sponsorship available' somewhere in the job posting.

what about on the cover letter instead of the actual resume? I think it will fit better on a cover letter

I put a brief note near the top of my Resume, stating that I am "UK Citizen and US Green Card Holder (Permanent Resident) - able to legally work in either country without sponsorship" - maybe that's a bit wordy, but it's had positive reactions from potential employers, some seeing it as a benefit if they have offices in the UK as well as the US.

My husband put that he was a green card holder and authorized to work also on his resume.

doesnt most of the major job sites (careerbuilder, monster etc) have this clickable option? if so, then use it but i see no harm in puttin it on a resume thats not linked to one of those sights

I've been applying for jobs big time and have had two interviews....I haven't put anything on my resume re authorized to work but many of the actual applications that are required do ask if you have a valid driver's license from the state, insurance, and whether you are authorized to work in the USA. At this time, I'm not putting that information on the resume, only my address and contact, when the question comes up I'll answer it at the interview or on the job application.

Had a second interview with an agency today and about an hour later, they called me and offered me the job woot woot woot !! It's a lot less than what I was making in the same field in Canada but that's ok and a great place to start. Glad to find work. It's taken me 6 weeks to land a gig since I moved here in mid Aug.

Hi, Canadian Wife, thanks !! I'm in Social Work/Counseling field. I also decided to pursue a Masters degree as it offers more opportunities, more money etc etc....
