I don't own a GPS, I do things the good old fashioned way - look up directions before leaving(don't worry, I think gps is cool, just being antagonistic ;) ). But I guess if google maps isn't even right, it's not a good process haha. I would personally never trust Mapquest, it has sent us wrong in the past many times before google maps was more available.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

The Goodbye Girl

In the inimitable words of Richard Dreyfus:

"Do NOT hang the panties in the bathroom!"

I didn't mean to be flippant by giving the example of a comedy movie;

but the scenario is not as farfetched as it may sound.

Dreyfuss' character got the key from someone he THOUGHT he knew

well, a friend, but the friend skipped town.

That's why he didn't pre-check the apartment which 99% of people

would normally do.

He ended falling in love with the equally unwitting occupant

but in no way would I suggest that to the OP.

The OP described the guy as Asian - Asians I have known

can be very trusting & naive (there are exceptions) when

contacted by people who they assume are "professionals"

in the real estate industry, for example.

My wife is NOT one of those Asians, LOL

Or he had the right address, but the wrong town. I've seen that happen with GPS's. My BIL once ended up, using a Hertz Neverlost car, about 25 miles north of where I live while he was routed to my house.

There's a classic Soviet movie on a related theme. (Irony of Life, I think, is how the title translates.) A guy goes to sauna with his friends in Moscow who get him really drunk and who then, as a practical joke, put him on a plane to Leningrad. He's too drunk to realize what's going on.

He arrives in Leningrad, gets in a taxi, gives his address and is delivered to "his" address. The building looks identical to his apartment building. The key works in the door. The apartment has the same floor plan and similar furniture. He passes out. Of course, it isn't his apartment but belong to a pretty, single girl. Its the Soviet take on romantic comedy and its really funny. And a good satire on uniformity in the Soviet Union.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Does the movie have a name?

If it's as you say, it's likely the NY public library has a DVD of it :star:

Found it online but alas, not in NYC or Westchester libraries.

Maybe Netflix or Blockbuster.

Since the topic has taken a Russian turn, I'll ask the question here. I just walked by a group of middle aged Russian woman at work and I noticed how Russian women past a certain age always seem to have these constipated looks on their faces. What's up with that? Not enough fiber in the traditional Russian diet?
