We sent out papers just abotu a month ago, and got a NOA1 on June 2nd.

Today we checked our status on USICS, and it says this:

Post-Decision Activity

On June 24, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Does this mean its really approved? So I can schedule my interview soon?

I know interviews in Oslo only take a few weeks to get. Am I looking at having my visa in hand within a few months?

I am freaking out right now, and just want to make sure I understand this.

Please help. :)

Excellent news!

You do not schedule the interview. The beneficiary will receive some packet in the mail that will need to be returned. Follow the step by step guides on here to figure out what comes next

Sorry, I didn't answer your question.

Right now, your petition packet is being sent from the VSC to the NVC. The NVC usually sends it off to your embassy within a few days/week and then the embassy sends your fiance Packet 3.

If you haven't already, send your fiance all of the necessary documentation/I-134/etc. for their interview portion. Make sure they have all of their vaccinations and are ready for their medical exam. Go to your Portal page on here and check out the info on the Norwegian embassy so you can see all of their requirements.

Good luck with stages 2 (NVC) and 3 (Embassy)!!!!!

Yes you are approved. The petition will be forwarded to the consulate through NVC. Provided there is no AP at NVC the consulate will have your petition in 2-3 weeks. How each consulate handles petitions is in their instructions. In Kiev, for example, you do not wait for a packet 3 to be sent, you can make an appointment immediately when they receive the petition. Packet 3 can be downloaded from any consulate or even this website. If you have not already gotten your packet 3 documents ready, do so now.

Go to the website for the Oslo consulate and check their instructions for your visa type.

Thank you everyone, and thanks for all the advice and guides!

I hope more people are as lucky as we have been!

It's gone so fast, I was not expecting this at all when I logged on to check it before I went to bed last night!

Today I have been calling the embassy and the doctors to get my medical done.

Sadly, the two doctors that are possible to use in Norwya, both vacation in july, so my application might sadly be delayed because of this. I wish I had gotten it done sooner, but I figured i should wait, since they say it can take up to 6 months. Also, I thought I had to get the papers from the Embassy before scheduling a medical.

My fiance is flying in to visit in August, and we have a wedding we are attending, so we can't really reshedule his visit. I hope that I have my visa before that, so we can travel home (my new home), together!

Soooo excited!!

First, congrats to you. Just to make things clear, your petition has been approved not your visa. You still have to go through NVC and Consulate...

You do need to get the interview letter from the embassy before you schedule your appointment because you need to take it with you to the medical.

Slow down a bit. You are getting a little ahead of yourself. I just don't want you to get to the NVC stage and be frustrated. You still have some time to go before the embassy. For example, we got stuck in AP for a little over 2 weeks. I don't wish that on anyone.

In the meantime, you will need to start gathering things for your interview at the embassy. Try working on those things. You are going to need a police report, passport photos, and certains forms to bring with you. We needed a non-impediment (a document showing you've never been married) Not all consulates require it, Just prepare yourself so when the embassy time comes you're ready.

Best wishes for a speedy journey and keep us posted. (F)

It has gone quickly! But MRStee is correct, you do not have a visa yet. The petition has been approved which is required for you to apply for the visa. If you followed that link I sent you, you will see what else has to be done. The embassy will send out information to you that will need to be returned before the interview can be scheduled. You will need this to schedule your medical (which will be needed at the interview) and you will need to get your police certificate.

Good luck

Thanks again everyone, and I realize that it's still quite a lot of work left until I recieve my Visa, but I feel like the wheels are really rolling now!

I have a question about the next step:

Do I have to send any papers to NVC, from Norway? Or does my fiance in the states just sent everything from a copy of the papers he sent in, to aos ets, to me, and I take it from there?

We haven't recieved our papers after the case was successful at the USCIS yet, but I do not want it to take any more time than needed, that's why I'm trying to stay on top of things as early as possible. :)
