Ok, really stupid, I know. I ate some fish that tasted like ammonia.

It seemed to smell normal and it was only after a few bites that I realized it was ammonia I was tasting. Yuck.

Russians eat that stuff all the time. The men have a short life expectancy, but I think it is from vodka, not eating fish

My bad. I just learnt that when ammonia odor is bad, it means something is wrong with the liver.

:whistle:expect to see your body working to get rid of the tainted fish within 2 hours one way or another... best of luck... if you have a fever or the evacuation lasts a very long time.. seek medical assistance... drink fluids to avoid dehydration as needed...

It's been in there about an hour and so far no ill effects, but of course I'm all nervous now. Will keep fingers crossed.

had the same thing happen, went to the drugstore and bought syrup of ipecac, it worked. after the initial violent vomiting, was not sick.......

Ipecac is not recommended for much of anything anymore. It's more likely to kill you than a lot of things that get ingested & often makes things worse as there are certain things that you do not want to vomit back up.
