So i called the NVC today all of a sudden i was connected to an operator although i just wanted to check our case on the AVR. Well she asked for our Case number so i started giving it to her like 3 numbers at a time. Im sorry but when someone is giving me a number i let them know everytime i have noted what they said so they give me the rest. Well she was like helllooo whats your number? i was like i started giving it to you? you she was like well you only gave me half and i told her i wasnt sure she had already noted the numbers and she was like well no you only gave me half  she was so pissy on the phone!

Well then she asked what i called for and i told her i was calling to check to see if our AVR was updated yet and they had recieved the AOS and IV and she told me no!..Not for another 2-4weeks :o Whyyy?? i thought the avr changes after like a week and then a few days later you get SIF :girlwerewolf2xn: not only was i upset that its going to take so long because if it really does take 4 weeks i might miss julys interviews but im soooo annoyed she was so unfriendly!!

Can someone tell me why there taking so long??

Maybe the operator was having a bad day. You can get good service from phone operator if you follow few simple tips. Don't be overly courteous. Don't be a rude ####### either. Acknowledge the person by name several time through the conversation. Like it or not, our names are dear to us. When someone calls us by our name, we are subconsciously more aware of what we need to do. I have been using this trick for years now. I never get bad service from phone operator except in rare occasion. If an operator starts being bitchy, you firmly say “Audrey, are you having a bad day? How can I make it better?”

As for taking long, IDK. Good luck.

I'd recommend trying this in a very suggestive voice.

Sorry you got a grouchy representative, but hey it happens, no excuses - but you know how it is! While I wouldn't go so far as to call them by name, you have to realize that the person on the other end of the phone (not just NVC - any call center) does that job every day - all day long, you splitting up the numbers like that is probably pretty annoying to them, they will let you know if you are going too fast :)

(I got a reminder of this a few weeks ago when I was ordering chinese food, I also got yelled at - but now I just talk really fast and they don't yell at me anymore lol)

One thing I noticed, you asked her if your AVR was updated? AVR is automated voice response, so that's not really a question you would ask them - since she was grouchy i'm surprised she didn't tell you to check the AVR yourself. :hehe:

What the heck is SIF?

It's definitely irritating when they are being dismissive or just plain annoyed with your request for information. Most of them have been very friendly and helpful, but I did get someone with a similar response. I called back a few hours later and talked to someone nicer.

In terms of the delay, it seems that things are moving slower this month. I had to send 2 Ds-230 packages. One was received on the 6th and the AVR was updated on the 12th. The second one was delivered to them on the 11th, and there is no record of it yet. Got the same response, "it's probably in our mail room." Another operator actually explained that they do not open the packages as soon as they get them. He said that the room is under high security because they get hundreds of letters from everywhere and that they need to ensure they do not contain anything hazardous.

Good news is you don't have to marry the lady at the NVC.

That's funny :)

No point in getting upset. It won't make it go faster.

NVC signed for our packages on April 21st but AVR didn't recognize until April 27th.

We received the "sign in failed" on May 5th and NVC said the case was completed on May 6th.

We were emailed our interview date on May 12th.

We were not as worried about how long they would take to complete our case...but rather if there would be an RFE !!!!

All you can do is take it as it comes.

If you filled out all the paperwork correctly....you've done everything you can for now!

Give the process time to work.

It won't be long and you will hear from them!

Do I wish our process would have gone quicker...sure...everyone does!!!!

Am I thankful it has not taken as long as some of those here are experiencing....very thankful!

I have so much compassion for those here that have been waiting for years.....I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about!!!

The old story...if you think you have it bad....I promise...someone else has it far worse!!!

Instead....Praise God for what He does for you!!!

No I agree, no excuse for her being rude to you - what I was trying to say is that it doesn't hurt to look at yourself and ask - how could I have made that go better? You assume people are slow and need you to pause all the time, all i'm saying is don't - they will probably all thank you for it :)

The operator is still angry that her boyfriend gave her an STD... she frequently takes it out on us.... if you call back it may be her boyfriend next time and he can be quite friendly...

Finally some German attitude here. Missed that for sooooo long!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
