It's C9 because you are filing based on Adjusting Status (the I-485). K1's have the ability to apply for an EAD PRIOR to getting AOS and that's when they would write A6, because it's filed based on the K1 visa and not in conjunction with the AOS process. It's foolish really to do it before AOSing not only do you have to pay $300ish for it (where with AOS it's free) but because it's only valid until the I-94 expires and it takes a while to arrive so it's valid for hardly any time at all.

So, C9 :)

yes, K1 is c9.

No it's not. K1 is A6. AOS is C9. You are confusing them.

It IS C9 but NOT because you are a K1, it's because you are filing together with AOS. People who adjust based on marriage to a USC (from visitors, or student visas) would also write C9 because they're filing it TOGETHER with the AOS.

We are adjusting status based on the K1, we are applying for the EAD based on AOS, not on the K1. If we were filing for EAD based on the K1 we would be showing proof of the K1, and you can see here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/ that nothing for the EAD asks for K1 proof, just AOS proof.
