Hey everyone, I was just wondering if I should call USCIS and ask whats going on with my K-1 application. I had sent it in on February 2, 2010, and received the NOA1 on february 10, but so far I havent gotten anything from them and its been about 3 months, I was thinking about calling them and asking them what is going on but I'm afraid it might actually slow down the process, so I wanted to know if any of you have called them and gotten any results. Is there a way I can have the process sped up? I go to the site regularly to check on my status but its just been on Initial Review the whole time

I Appreciate any help

Sent I-129f on 02/02/2010 Wish Me Luck!

Received I-797C Notice of Action or NOA1 dated 02/10/10 on 02/15/10

NOA2 Approved May 20, 2010

Married December 23, 2010!!

Calling them won't harm your case, but it probably won't help your case either.

If I'm not mistaken (and I didn't check the timelines on this site yet - you should try that) it can easily take an average of 6 months until NOA2. I did get my reply sooner, but if you count on the averages, you might be pleasantly surprised if it is in fact quicker, but at least you won't stress when yours takes a normal amount of time. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

I counted on 6 months, and it turned out to be 3. I was pleasantly surprised. You're counting on less then 3 months, and you seem stressed and concerned. Happy seems nicer :)

BTW : If I were you I'd start collecting all the information you'll need for the next step in the process, if you haven't yet. I wasn't counting on my NOA2, and so I needed to rush it all together. If you want to speed it up, I suggest you prepare for the next step so you can send it out as soon as you get your NOA2.

90 days is a minimal processing time. Wait another two and a half months (until 10 July), then contact your congressman if you haven't gotten any RFEs or an NOA2.

ETA: Also, given the relations with Afghanistan, I would not be surprised if the process takes longer across the board, and I would tell you to expect AP after the interview, even if you are approved.

So it has been 70 days so far - not unusual - NOA1 to NOA2 can take in the 100-120+ day range - calling USCIS at this point will likely result in a 'canned' answer telling you to call back when it's been over 5-6 months (in other words, useless). You're more than welcome to call, but just keep the above in mind - there may actually be nothing to tell you.

Hang in there - it takes a while and this is the (usually) longest/hardest part of the journey. :star:

Come back and tell us when you've crossed 100 days.

And I agree with Otto--this is hardest part of the journey due to the not knowing/waiting. In our case it was 118 very long days.

On top of that I want to add :

I got concerned at a certain point of the process, and called them.

I didn't have a direct number (which exists) for people who already filed, so I called the number that costs me 10 or 15 euro by creditcard to talk to someone. Only to find out .... that I had to wait more.

I had read that you can contact my state senator to have them call them and find out what is going on, is that true?

Get a hobby, as everyone have stated you are not in the red zone yet. This process calls for patient, it's not on your time, but theirs. There is many things that you can be doing to prepare for next step. Start collecting the documents for the next 2 steps. Your Senator cannot receive any information until the case is outside of the processing time.

You can, yes - they're your representative(s).

They (Senators especially) have staff members that handle things like what you're asking. I'd be willing to bet that even these staff members will likely tell you that you're still within 'typical' processing times though. Check the website(s) or your State Senator(s) for more specific information.

This EXACTLY !!

Don't harass those people when they aren't late.

It's not a grocery store where you walk in, grab what you need, and walk out with the product.

Patience, patience, patience. There are a lot of people ahead of you that are also waiting, and filed before you.

If and when you do exceed the prior stated amount of time, and STILL didn't hear anything, contact them.

You're more likely to flag your application as suspicious if you'd act paranoid, than anything else.

They're not going to put it on the top of their list because you asked nicely, or can't wait any longer.

Mine was 100 days from NOA1 to NOA2.

I have to admit I expected it sooner but as it turns out it was actually about right.

I know it is stressful waiting, feeling like you are in limbo just hang on and try not to drive yourself crazy. As mentioned above getting the stuff needed for the next stage is a good idea, it certainly helped keep me sane and now I am at the stage of waiting for my interview I don't have to rush round and sort it. Which is good considering I have loads of packing to do!

Good luck and I hope it is speedy for you

Rather than sitting on pins and needles, when I sent our petition I prepared myself for a 5 month wait, while I was still anxious I was not expecting to receive anything anytime soon.

After 2.5 months I went to visit my fiancee in Vietnam. When I returned home, guess what was in the mail box, my NOA2, postmarked 3 months to the day from the NOA1.

What a pleasant suprise. If you mentally prepare for the wait, then you can alleviate some pain and agony and if you get it before your expectations, then yahoo!

Waiting sucks and is frustrating but alot of it is our own state of mind.

Use your "spare" time wisely and become as knowledgable about the upcoming steps as you can. So many wait for the NOA2 and then are scrambling when they get packet 3 and 4 and still dont have any idea what to do (not saying that is the case - just saying)

Best Wishes

Has it been 5 months since your NOA1? Have you exceeded the Immigration Timelines averages? You are just impatient. WE all had to wait and you will too.

Hi there,

Our approval took 116 days! Which seemed a lot while we were waiting, but on hindsight,it seems that is their average processing trend right now.Anything under their 5 month time-frame will seem like a normal wait to them(not so much for us hehe!).

But you have to wait it out,and hopefully, you get to hear something soon. This would be one of the toughest parts ,but after this it will be relatively easier.Make lists and plans, that was what I would do and what sustained me a lot :)

All the very best to you :)
