Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

We never did print the chats. We just printed 4 emails per month to show them from the time we started communicating till she had her interview. It needs not be nothing special about the communication in the emails. Just show them that you are communicating. We also sent phone records but they never did ask for that. They only wanted pictures and emails.

This is a tough topic to advise on. You need to do what you are comfortable with.

We printed hundreds of emails and a few handfuls of chat logs. At the interview the CO never asked for a single one. However we know others who were asked for many, some were just loked at and others the CO asked them questions from them.

You just never know what to expect from this area. My own opinion is to print at least a few from each week.

Maybe others who have been through your consulate will have a better idea how much this is scrutinized there. We were Vietnam and it seems like there it is totally dependant on what CO you get. Some dont seem to care much about the emails and chat logs while others like to dig deeper.

Better to be prepared and have at least a few handfuls than get bitten by not having enough.

I printed an email to and from for each month and then took 4-6 lines or so from each chat that showed the date, time and our chat handles and copy and pasted them into a Word document and then printed it up. There were hundreds of chats and would have killed a lot of trees. It shows we were

chatting almost every day. I also copied my passport and highlighted on the copies the dates I went to visit.

I printed only a few emails (just 5)and the CO never asked for them, also I had bills and another papers and he only asked me by photos, I gave him at least 15 photos.

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Si, man; this is the most prudent advice, coupled with the recommendation to scrutinize reviews from people who have previously interviewed at YOUR consulate. In Ecuador, the fiance(e) and petitioner (who MUST both attend) may do best by bringing a copy of every e-mail that they ever sent between each other. Most consulates, happily, require less than this, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My husband and I printed the whole damn lot and censored them, but we both knew when we were doing it that this is almost completely unnecessary. They only want a cross-section of your communications... the advice already given is pretty good. 4-5 samples per month; they'll do exactly that if you send them the whole thing. I'd print a page from the chat logs at random for this period too, 3-4 a month. A page largely because you'll just be wasting paper otherwise. If you're using skype, you may wish to get a copy of your call log... which is difficult and another ballpark entirely. Phone records would be good too.

We printed it all just to be sure. If you aren't hurting for ink and paper, well...
