Hi all

I submitted my application on December 24, 2009 and the notice date was December 30,2009 (USCIS confirms they received my application).

And then I heard nothing until a few days ago. I checked online at the UCIS site and I was surprised to see that they had already reached Post Decison Activity.

It said "On March 4, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN."

My question is, is the time line under Check Case Status in order by steps at the UCIS website?

See image Below:

So I suppose I didn't have to provide any Request for Evidence or Testing and Interview.

You didn't submit an application for a visa. You filed a petition. The petition has been approved. Study the CR1 visa guide, as you have a lot more work to do, fees to pay, affidavit of support to provide and your spouse has a "visa to apply for", a medical and vaccinations followed by a visa interview.

Aside, my last four posts in a row have all been to clarify confused people who thought the applied for a visa when they actually only filed a petition.

Please folks, stop interchanging the terms petition and visa application. It confuses people.

That 'case status' portal is kinda generic, in attempt for all petition types to 'be tracked'.

The I-130 petition, as you prolly already know, has more steps to it.

but - yer three bits, ah?

Request for Evidence - no not on the I-130 petition, itself.

Testing - no, not on the I-130 petition, itself.

Interview. - your foreign spouse SHOULD get one, all things being equal. But is inappropriate 'status', at this stage of the process.

IMO - those 3 'status bits' are generic, not useful for an I-130 spousal petition - except the RFE thingie.

IMO, yer casefile will be sent over to NVC for further processing. It's a bit involved and tedious, but most ppl handle it with a modicum of freaking out and doses of high-sugared foods.

No, he didn't. He wrote, "So I suppose I didn't have to provide any Request for Evidence or Testing and Interview." indicating he was confused. The word "aside" beginning my sentence was intended to indicate it was directed at others contributing to the general confusion by interchanging the terms.

I will say though that the USCIS site itself contributes to the confusion in that many of the steps indicated only apply to Naturalization. The I-129F petition skips from approval to post decision activity but that for USCIS, not DOS who handles the rest of the visa process.

push - I'm sorry - I don't want to mince words here - but words are important, ya? I am sure you'd flip that on me (or anyone else) - as I also loathe ppl to be imprecise.

IMO, I don't think that's the case here. The OP provided an IMAGE, and was ASKING about the 'other steps' listed in the IMAGE. I don't think he was confused about the general casefile processing, but confused about the IMAGE.

re: yer mentioning of the I-129F petition - ye gods - totally off base, ya? tis an I-130 petition.

If yer getting cross-eyed (I get that way sometimes) then strongly suggest ya take a break, put the keyboard down, do something else. I usually feel better after 3 to 4 hours shovelling horse manure in my garden (tis a big place, lots o horse manure) , so I must assume you can get 'uncrossed' after 'doing something else', as well.

Happy Saturday !
