Ok, what is the deal with the west coast NBC Olympic coverage? We get 90% fluff pieces, and about 10% of broken up highlights, or some actual events, SEVERAL hours AFTER the race or event is over. I mean really, if I wanted to know who made the ice skaters outfit, or who's aunt was in labor during someones race, I would Google the info. NBC has made this world event practically impossible and certainly frustrating to watch. I know all the outcomes before I can even see the events, and that is if they are even going to SHOW the event!

GOD, I HATE NBC's "coverage".

Yeah, a lot of Canadians currently living in the U.S. are complaining about it in the Canada forum too. It's pretty horrible to think that the United States can't get live coverage of such a major sporting event right across the border and in the same time zone...

I'm fortunate to live on the outskirts of Vancouver. No fewer than three stations with Olympic coverage 24/7 throughout the Olympics.

Live coverage would be the best, but ANY coverage of most of the event would be good too. I mean...I am SO freaking sick of the fluff pieces and fillers, instead of the sports! ARGH!!!!!!

Like I said in a thread elsewhere, THIS is why NBC gets piss-poor ratings. Their scheduling decisions just plain suck.

Yeah. I thought the coverage of Obama sprinkling holy water on the athletes was a bit much.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I was so angry last night because the idiots at NBC didn't transmitted the whole winter olimpics. I wanted to see figure skating, I mean all of the pairs.

In Europe there is Eurosport and you can wach whatever sports you want. I have a lot of sports channel here in Us and no figure skating.

What can we do that next year won't happen the same? NBC doesn't deserve the rights for winter olimpics.

I love every joke that Jay Leno makes about NBC. They deserve it!

To say the coverage is disappointing would be an understatement. Haven't searched some of the 'extra' satellite channels yet (to see if there is extended coverage some where) - to me, it's been unwatchable.

And to add to that - why are we seeing late-night coverage when the games are in Canada?

Coverage of Olympics in the U.S. sucks generally. Way too many ads, confusing scheduling, very little live stuff, and constant bozo commentary about so-and-so's unemployed mother, blah, blah, blah. They even manage to take interesting stories and turn them into totally saccharine features that miss the point entirely. It's maddening. I'm sure at least someone will refer to "Czechoslovakia" before it's all over. Also, did anyone catch the reference to "Mother Russia" when talking about the Japanese skater who became a Russian citizen? (Wot?!)

I've taken to recording stuff during the day, trying to avoid finding out results, and skipping over the myriad ads when watching events in the evening.

I like how they said about the Japanese girl who had to become a Russian citizen to fulfill her dream to skate.

I appreciate backstories to SOME degree...and if I want more info...there is always Google. But damn..I get MUCH more backstories and fluff than sports. Even some story about polar bears the other day. Now I love polar bears, but REALLY, what does that have anything to do with the Olympics, or even Canada??
