AOS- RFE: I-693

Hello guys!

Ok, I am under K1 visa when i entered the US, we filed AOS last Nov.2009, we took a risk by sending my DS-3025 form instead of I-693 and because of that we got an RFE(!) last Dec.2009

We only 87 days to comply with the missing documents,so now we are gathering informations regarding of this thing.

I have few questions

1. I had my medical exam back in the Philippines last April 28,2009

if i understood it correct,i do not have to repeat my medical exam because the exam i had back

in the Philippines is still valid, am i right?

2. When i went to have my medical exam back in Phils.,the doctor gave me 2 shots of vaccines.

THEN i was told to have another shots of each when i get here in the US but i was not told when.

(1.HPV and 2.Tdap)

I also learned that HPV is no more required, so i only need to take care of is Tdap if i have to,my concern is do you

think the surgeon is the one who will give me the shots or do we need to get it somewhere else?

I am on my husband's med.insurance, but the name he put in there is under my married name, now i do not an ID

under my married name,is a copy of marriage contract will cover?

2. I checked the surgeon locator at the USCIS and the nearest surgeon we found is the one from Hickory NC.

Does anyone of you went to this doctor? or knows how much does he charge?

or how much does your surgeon charged you for the transcription?

i am just collecting info so to have an idea how much the rate they usually charges.

I hope you guys can help me by providing informations and sharing your experiences.

If you read other posting in Visajourney you will see that many are being told they need the full EXAM.

Please print out the USCIS document that says that the EXAM you have already taken is good for 1 year and that

you only need to get the finish-up on shots.

Your LUCKY my wife did the HVP shots an then they ended them .. hahaha its OK for her it only hurt a little but it would have saved us $460.00. So thats money you can put toward your AOS which will be $1010.00.

Go out and fill out and print the I-693 form and always print 2. I always keep a before and after copy I am crazy about file and forms. AS well as a back up copy of you DS-3025 form for your shots.

The doctor will take your ds-3025 and see what shots you need then he will sign and add the new shots to your Ds-3025 form ..

he will make a copy for your records and give you a SEALED Envelope with his copy to send in with your AOS, AP and EAD. DON'T Open his envelope.

Again remember to be prepared to show them the instruction from USCIS about NO NEW EXAM. It'sjust best because they GO CRAZY and want to make more money.

Our Civil Surgeon only excepted Cash and would not go against our insurance. I think it is because they have gotten stiffed in the past with no payment.

Just to mention these CS are not regulated by the USCIS and they are getting away with murder. They very well know that beneficiaries that had the medical less than a year ago are not required to have another medical and I am seeing this all over VJ that people are running into this issue, and most will not do the transcription without giving a full medical. They just want to make money and are totally ignoring the instructions stating another medical is not needed. These medicals having been running into the hundreds of dollars.

MAKE SURE YOU ALSO HAD TB SKIN TEST WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR COUNTY HEALTH DEPT. AS NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER FILERS FOUND THAT TO BE ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS OF RFE FOR i-693. SOME GUESS THAT OVERSEAS MEDICAL ARE NOT TRUSTED FULLY BY THE uscis.

Every medical procedures required of me was done by my county health department. All these records with them were brought to the CS and so after just blood works done with their clinic, I got my form I-693 off their hands for 129 USD. Hope it helps. Call every possible CS in your area to find out how much they charge. I did this with 20 CS until I got this particular one who did not charge as much as the others would have.

Well, I think that pictures are a bit more clear now, and I think that maybe some of the information given in this thread has now been dispelled.

1. You do NOT need a full medical.

2. If you had incomplete vaccinations, you must complete them and have them transcribed by a CS (part 1, part 2- vaccination ONLY-, part 5)

3. TB skin tests are apparently NOT the hold up, as was previously hypothesized. Nik hasn't gotten one and we are back in business.

If you are on your spouse's insurance, get your vaccinations done by your regular doctor. This is probably the cheapest way. Alternatively, go to the county health department, then have them transcribed.

Moving from Progress Reports to AOS.

I am from Charlotte, NC and had to redo everything again because my medical exam from K-1 expired so my case is different. Anyways, to answer your questions:

1. You do not need to redo your medical. You just need to transcribe your DS-3025 to I-693 and also get whatever vaccination that is required for AOS.

2. I am not sure about HPV but I did have to get Tdap. I could not wait for Health Department to schedule an appoinment for new patients so I got my shot at the CS. It cost about $43. CS usually do not take insurance and would want you to pay there and then. You can get the shot from your own family physician or go to the Health Department. Then, get the vaccination record and take it with you to see the CS.

3. Where in NC are you located? I am in South Charlotte and I went to Concentra Medical Centre in Westinghouse Blvd, Charlotte. The people working there were very knowledgeable about K1 and medical stuff and when I was calling around to get the quotes, one of the nurses asked me repeatedly if I was sure that my medical abroad had expired. She went ahead and explained that I didn't need one if my medical was still under a year old. Pretty honest I must say, that's why I went and had my stuff done there. I paid $230 for full medical, Tdap, TB Skin Test, bloodwork etc.

(1.HPV and 2.Tdap) Well no wonder you got the RFE!! If your shots weren't complete then you CAN'T just sent the DS-3025!! You ONLY send that form if your shots are complete. If you KNEW then by reading the instructions where it says "if you need more shots go to a CS who will transcribe the old AND new shots into the 693" you should have known the 3025 wasn't enough. I only point this out so other people realise ONLY "risk" sending the 3025 if you KNOW your shots are complete

You can have the shots done anywhere, but you will need to take the proof of the shot to the CS who will then transcribe it into the 693. The CS might also tell you whether there are other shots you're missing.

This is not covered by medical insurance. Sorry. Shots you MIGHT get away with, but likely not. Otherwise I'm not sure about the marriage licence and drivers licence/passport. It SHOULD be okay

You need NO more HPV shots. It's been dropped from the requirements as of December 2009. You may get another shot if you want the protection it offers, but you don't have to for immigration purposes.

Hi everyone,

I just had my I-693 filled out and done today. I'm living in NC and I went to this doctor in Garner, NC. The doctor's name is Dr. Gonzalo Fernandez in Occupational Health Partners. He's situated in Garner and Raleigh as well.

I had to pay USD185 for the following breakdown:

Paperwork - $15

Immunization Administration - $15

Tdap shot - $45

Varicella Booster shot - $110 (I could've done the bloodwork, which costs $70 but if the bloodwork comes out that I do not have full immunity against Varicella even though I've had chicken pox before, I would need the booster shot.... so I decided to play safe and pay $40 more now than having to pay much more later)

They're really friendly and were upfront about the payment, which is really good. I recommend this to whoever is living around here.

You need NO more HPV shots. It's been dropped from the requirements as of December 2009. You may get another shot if you want the protection it offers, but you don't have to for immigration purposes.

We received a RFE, and even thought we sent the vaccination worksheet from the Medical examination. The REF is asking for a "complete" new medical examination. It says "you have indicated that you last entered the US as a K or V non-immigrant. Please submit a properly completed and signed copy of the medical exam, conducted overseas on form DS-2053, if you do not have you must complete a I-693. Well it seems funny that they know we had to have had atleast the medical exam, to be approved in the interview, and the standard procedure is they send those documents directly to the Embassy, so a very good chance 100% we do not have the orignal.

What a rip off, as to fight it seems like a risk not worth taking, at best it could delay the approval process

I would encourage you to talk to your congressman or one of your senators' office about the RFE. A congressional inquiry is FREE, and it is not a risk for denial, only a slight delay. If successful, it could even take LESS time to get to approval. They may not have even LOOKED in your physical "A" file which you turned in to them at POE. At least have that checked out before proceeding with a whole new thing.

we went to the doctor today and they charged me $349 for my 1 tdap shot, 1 mmr shot and 1 varicella and before we called them they said we only paid $150 for 2 shots...we talked about 30 minutes to explain that my wife don't need to compete full exam. and the doctor said i can make her 2 shots but the immigration will send you a letter to complete her medical..we explain everything,we showed the instructions which is part of her vaccination to completed but again it seems that they don't care what the instructions of the immigration..i would like to done everything before her I-94 will expire on feb.09..i know it cost much about this shots...i suggest to everyone that try to call which surgeon are cheaper...we have appointment today but they called us to move on wednesday and that was a cheaper one they charged me $70 and i really want to send this aos on monday...this problem it makes me crazy and also when we called uscis they didn't tell us the whole informations they only said..do that..do this..anyway i have no choice i want my wife to done everything....
