Hi, I know the I 129F is $US455. I think I'll have to pay a fee here in australia for my interview at the US embassy in sydney but I dont know how much. Also Im sure the medical will cost me...again how much I dont know. Do I apply for my police records from NZ and australia. I guess that'll cost too. Hopefully i can do that over the internet. Is that correct. I live in Oz and dont want a trip back to NZ just for that. Then when i get to the U.S theres more visa costs isnt there, and I suppose more again for the green card. So how much will it cost me from start to finish. Cost to the nearest dollar will do...:-) One more question...would it be a cheaper and easier process if my lady in the USA just adopted me....:-)

here is a link of total cost (estimated) including forms after you enter usa

I was looking at some post on this forum or some other site that said the process before getting to the usa was about $1500-1900AU depending on the cost of the medical

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Here is a listing of costs for various visas. The medical estimate is probably not accurate for Oz.

On the plus side, for once i'll only need a one way ticket :-) Ive spent alot on travelling the last 3 1/2 years since we met. Been to the US 5 times or so. Thanks for all the info. Hadnt bargained on 8 grand or more. Of course I'm ready to pay whatever it costs but it sure is a chunk of change to spend on red tape, especially when its so un -necessarily slooooooooow. Maybe Obama will fix it soon like he fixed the banking system....lol

Consider that coming on a fiance visa will result in you being unemployed a minimum of four months and the rest of the costs are chump change.

how much do you want it to be?

the minimum cost required to "meet" requirements?

or the cost to make your fiancee feel appreciated and have an easy adjustment ?

is this:

about USCIS costs?

about travel + USCIS

about working to support another human being + about travel + USCIS

if you are asking the cost ... are you really prepared to do what it takes to take the journey?

Im asking so I know what to expect. Its not a bad thing to know that before you start on a process like this is it....Im kinda like the accountant of the team so it interests me. I was asking only about the total cost of the visa process to enable me to marry my lady and legally reside and work in the US. Its me that will be mostly making the big adjustment from living by the beach in a nice part of australia, quiting a really good job, selling all i own and moving to a busy city in the US although I have been there enough to know all I need to know, and I love my lady so its no problem for me and wont be for her either. The travel costs I know already, Im an expert on that. Theres no financial pressure for me to work when i get there. Yes Im prepared to do what it takes,

Ok thanks. Is the AOS the only other fee once i get to the US. cheers

Whoops - forgot one :(

There's also new medical fee in the USA - basically the I-693 - there will be costs associated with the Civil Surgeon that you will see in the USA - that Civil Surgeon does a final review on yer medical file. If you need other vaccinations, can get them at the Civil Surgeons office also, but many choose to do it elsewhere, at a lower price. I can't predict how much for Civil Surgeon fees, but suggest you budget 600 bucks for that (thats the high side, btw) - and then if you have monies left over, hey - use your extra monies for a nice haircut when yer ready to start job hunting. :D

Has the fee increased been approved? I havent seen anything that its official? Can anyone send a link?

You dont need a new medical if your VISA medical is within a year of your AOS. You do need your vaccines transcribed....but that is no where near $600. Your medical should be in the brown sealed envolope that you hand over at POE. Some people have been having issues- but you just have to write back saying they got it at POE- you can do a new one if you want- but its NOT NEEDED....

Thanks!

My husband and I probably spent close to $5,000.00 for the entire process (including travel costs, etc.) up until now... Our next step is the ten-year green card I believe, so it shouldn't be too much more expensive after this... If you're able to, I would set aside at least $5,000.00 for the entire process, more if you're able. I am the USC and did not have a steady decent job when we were working through all the stages of immigration, so the financial aspect was the worst for us... It's an extremely stressful process to begin with, but when you're low on funds too, it's just ten times worse. It's worth it in the end though :-)

Thanks!

People I have spoken to who are having trouble locating their vaccination supplements and plan to have a medical done here in the US have said that the cost for a medical in the US is $300.00 at the least. A little ridiculous I think but then again, I guess they're in high demand and there are only so many civil surgeons go go around... Like most other November '09 filers, I got an RFE over this whole medical supplement thing and sent back a highlighted instruction sheet, the highlight being on the section where it explains that medical supplements are good enough if within a year from the medical in the foreign state. Our case has been transferred to a USCIS office and his EAD should be on the way soon :-) I'm so excited!
