Yep - I'm posting a math question on the off topic board. I have no shame. :D Please help if you can!!

Question #2. The problem has to do with dividing rational expressions.

I think my answer is going in the right direction but I don't think it is simplified enough. The answer seems too long.

Thanks so much!!

The second is wrong. You factored wrong.

Hint: Your factors on the top left is not correct. It should be (x+4)(x-3).

Great. He ran away.

I came here thinking that this must be a challenge.

I agree.. would have been nice to have a real challenge posted, but the problems were actually at a higher level than I expected to see on here....

Looks like a typical mathematician derived nonsensical problem that treats mathematics as an entity upon itself rather than a very important tool to solve everyday problems. Met a plenty of mathematicians that were very good at this stuff, but couldn't even apply it in such tasks as balancing their checkbooks or filing their income taxes. Forget about any engineering related problems that had to be solved, they were worthless.

But if you want say an engineering degree, have to put up with this #######.

I agree - but to pass the class I have to prove I know it... so what do you do? :D

He, who is he? I am a female. :D I never said the problem was hard - but it is hard for me, I am just starting to relearn this stuff and it's been years since I have taken a math class. Give me a little credit. :D Thanks for the help. I will keep you in mind the next time I need help. :P

A hard/difficult problem is a problem one is not fully prepared to solve. Your method of checking your work with those here is a good idea, but keep in mind this is OT and you will likely get more than you are looking for...

Intermediate Algebra... strange thing is - I took College Algebra and got a B, now I am taking this class, which is a lower level class to get another math credit and I can't do it!! I will get through it but the grade might not be what I want.
