Affadavit of Support

Hey, I was wondering if the affadavit of support has to be from someone living in the same state. For example, I am moving to Puerto Rico, my fiance lives there, but the person on the Affadavit of Support lives in New York. Is that fine? Or does it have to be someone who lives where they live? Thanks

Out of curiosity, if your fiance already lives in PR then why would you be doing a K-1 visa? Unless of course you are the alien.

It depends on the consulate. Some countries can be strict, as their directive is to ensure that you will be financially supported, and that's open to some significant interpretation between countries.

Tell us which country you are from (and where you'll be doing the interview) and we can give you more information.

Moved from K-1 to Embassy (more related I-134)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Provided they currently have US domicile, yes.
