What is the difference between td and tdap? are both required for AOS?

My CS told me both were required. The CS told me that they will only fill out the "I693 Vaccination Supplement". It's a single page form.

They wont fill out the actual I693 (part 2-vaccination & 5) unless you have a full medical with them.

Td = Tetanus, Diptheria

Tdap = Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis

YMMV

What he said, also known as "your CS is trying to rip you off". Go to someone else. I don't know if you can report them either but it's obvious they don't know what they're talking about.

I agree, check around, it took me a few phone calls before I found one that would do it. Helps to take a copy of the I-693 instructions where it clearing states about K-1 requirements. Good luck.

The form changed May 1, 2008. The new I-693 replaced the old one and the I-693a (the vaccination supplement) was eliminated. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/medical_exams_042908.pdf

The Tdap would be appropriate for someone over 10 years old. Since it contains the Td vaccine plus the pertussis, it covers Td, a separate Td and Tdap shot would be inappropriate.

When I visited the CS, he told me i didn't have to do the Td coz i already had Tdap. In my vax record, it says there it is a requirement but the CS said it's ok not to have it so I didn't have it. I believed him and we will just have to wait if we will get an RFE. We haven't filed our AOS yet. We will do that next week hopefully. :)

This recently issued letter from USCIS is what field officers are supposed to use when assessing your immunizations for AOS. This would indicate that for many, Td or Tdap or DT, DTP or DTaP would be acceptable.

my wife had the TD shot oversea...when she spoke to the CS...they said..Tdap is required. It could be the missing dose of Pertussis.

Anyone else has this issue?

We didn't have this for AOS, but did for school enrollment. TN schools required Tdap, but the DS-3025 had the Td marked. I contacted the hospital in Bangkok where the children had their shots; they confirmed they were given Boostrix, the brand name for Tdap. The DS-3025 has a place for either Td or DT/DTP/DTaP, but not Tdap. I'd check to find out exactly shot she was given. If it was Boostrix (very common worldwide), then it is Tdap.
