I was just thinking about how much has changed in 10 years. NYE 2000 I was 19 years old on break from college, partying it up with my girlfriends in Boston. Tonight I will probably watch the ball drop on TV with my husband while nursing my baby. Over the past 10 years I've graduated college, did the living in Europe thing for a few years, got married, established my career, and had a baby. And logged a significant number of hours on VJ I must admit. Amazing how much changes.

Deep, I know.

Where were you 10 years ago and what have the past 10 years brought you?

Happy New Year to all my VJ friends and enemies! :goofy:

10 years ago, I spent perhaps the biggest New Year of the millenium at home with the flu, a bottle of good champagne, a demi-john of (really) good, still cider (6% alcohol) and a quarter bottle of really good, really chilled vodka.

By 2:00am, you couldn't tell that I had the flu

Since then, I've changed continents, married my (long) long-time sweetheart, had my share of joy and heartbreak, and had 4 years of parental happiness with the funniest, silliest, smartest and wisest little gem this side of my front door.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

Good thread.

I was 24 then. I was on-call for work  on Dec 31 1999 and Jan 1 2000 (Y2K). I wasn't married, I was a junior programmer back then. I don't remember much else, to be honest. It was such a long time ago.

Today, I'm 34. And tonight I will be at my moms with my wife and sister watching the ball drop on TV. I'll be picking up pizza on the way there.

Exciting, I know.

Fun idea. Weird to think 1999/2000 was already 10 years ago! HUH??? I was also 19. I was in college too. I'm trying to remember what I did that NY's Eve. Nothing crazy, hehe. With friends probably. But yeah tonight we will be home, Kavi is getting over being sick and I have a cold. But it will be relaxing. Over the past 10 years a lot has changed. I graduated college, met Sujeet, went to India, got married, had a baby, and grew up (at least a little bit! :hehe: ).

Happy New Year!

Oh and on NY's eve 1999 I was so happy when midnight came and the Y2K disaster didn't happen just like we told our crazy friends it wouldn't. (they thought it would!!)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

NY of 1999/2000 we had just relocated to the Bay area. We (me, ex-her, 3 kids) were living in a rented house in Santa Clara and my parents came from Canada to join us.

Since then... bought/sold the California house, left there in 2004, lived in Israel 2004-2008. Bought and sold the Israeli house, got divorced, moved to Chicago, bought a house here, got remarried.

My oldest kid was a 2nd grader back then. He's about to start college this year (2010). A decade is a real chunk in a person's life.

Hmmm, New Years 1999-2000 I was in Copacabana Beach, RJ, Brasil with some friends and boyfriend and watching the fireworks, and all excited about my first year of Psychology School and living in Rio de Janeiro. Today I am married to someone completely different, I never graduated Psychology (got a bachelor in law), in a different country and my New Years will be a quiet affair at my in laws.

I was 14, at my uncle's house with my dad's family and remember thinking, yay, the power didn't go off!

Since then - I had medical problems that prevented me from graduating high school, started college not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, immigrated to Canada to marry my husband, lost three grandparents, gained a new appreciation for my dad, and chose to drag my hubby to FL.

Good thread Jenn :)

10 years ago I was 24, had just moved to FL and bought my 1st house. Since then I have gotten my bachelor's, met my husband, left my career, moved to the (gasp) midwest and started full time on my hobby. We hope early 2010 will prove fruitful in the relocation category so we can start all over again.
